Commish Notes

  • All hail Mr. Alan Feyerherm, manager of the San Diego Chickens. My Feyerherm is a closer. Once he took over 1st place early in the final month, the season was over for the 13 other managers.

Indeed, in a turnabout from the norm, the Chickens took the other league managers by the neck and twisted them to shreds. How the brood cackled with joy as the human meat approached their nests! Hah, after all these years of awakening ungrateful humans at 6AM only to be eaten at lunchtime, they finally had their vengeance. Down with humans! Long live a free and independent state of Chickenship.

Yes, long live the Chickens. May they enjoy the rights, privileges and responsibilities of their league championship. And may Mr. Feyerherm spend his money wisely (for those playing with a little $ on the table) lest he offend the brood and be no more.

  • Gentlemen, great first half by everyone. Good activity by all managers. Let's have a great second half!

  • Gentlemen, I have had some manager requests to put up money in the league. At the same time, I know some of the managers don't like to play for money.

So here's my suggestion: For those who are interested, we will have an optional $20 fee. This way we are honoring both points of view. The payout would go only to those in the pool and would be distributed as follows.
    1st Place 50%
    2nd Place 25%
    3rd Place 15%
Most Improvement in the 2nd half 10%

The last item gives you a chance to win money even if you're off to a rough start.

Now that said, I would need a volunteer to handle the money. I am already handling the money in another league and don't want to co-mingle any by mistake.

In order to be the treasurer, you simply need a PayPal account and/or a mailing address.

Please send me a note or post a message here if you are willing to be the treasurer. Thanks.

  • Gentlemen, great start to the season so far. I have posted the Minor League Rosters at my blogspot. Please take a minute to review and make sure they are accurate.

We have one call-up so far: Jurickson Profar by the San Diego Chickens.

Remember that you call up anyone from your minor league roster at anytime by simply posting a note on the league home page and then doing the normal add/drop transaction.

Of course, once a player is called up from the minor league roster, he cannot be demoted for the remainder of the season. He can only be kept on the manager's major league roster or dropped. Another manager can pick him up but has the same limitations: keep him on the major league roster or drop him.

Please let me know if any questions. Thanks!

  • Gentlemen, I wanted to answer a question which came up earlier.

If there is a player who was on his team's major league roster at the beginning of the year AND was not selected in the minor league draft, he is a regular major league player in our league. All normal add/drop rules hold.

If a manager selected a player who was NOT on the player's real major league roster at the beginning of the year and had no prior major league history, our league's minor league rules apply to the player. That is,
1, If he is dropped from a team's roster, the manager who dropped him cannot pick him up for the remainder of the season.
    2. Any other team is free to select him. However, the same rules apply. That is, if the new manager decides to drop the player, he cannot pick him up for the remainder of the season.
    3. Should the player remain on the team's roster the remainder of the year, the manager has the right to demote him to his minor league club the following spring when we are finalizing our minor league roster.

According to my records, these rules only apply to four players. The following players were NOT on their real life team's opening day roster and had no prior major league experience but are owned as major leaguers in our league.
    Nolan Arenado
    Kevin Gausman
    Yasiel Puig
    Bruce Rondon

If any of these players are dropped, the 'dropping manager' cannot pick them up again.

Make sense? Any questions, please let me know. Thanks,

  • Gentlemen, I sent each of you a list of many of the Minor Leaguers who are not available. I included the players who are listed on your Minor League rosters as well as several youngsters who are being carried on one of your Major League rosters.

It's not meant to be an all-inclusive list ---- you'll still want to confirm before you pick someone ---- but it's a pretty good start.

BTW, I will start posting the picks on my blog spot.

  • Gentlemen, today our Minor League Draft begins. I will be creating a list of some of the top Minor League players who are not available so we can avoid confusion.

I'll be in meetings today but should be able to get that out this evening.

That said, Joe, you are first. So if you have someone in mind, you can post your pick anytime. The order goes from last year's 14th to 1st place finishers in each round.

You will select as many Minor Leaguers as you have available slots.

  • Gentlemen, the Minor League rosters are now closed and posted on my website. If you notice anything in error, please let me know.

For those of you who have picked up players who are not currently on major league rosters, remember that the player must remain on your roster all season or be dropped. If the player is dropped, the manager who dropped the player cannot pick him up again during the 2013 season.

The Minor League draft begins April 9th.

  • Gentleman, I had a question from one of the managers regarding whether he could demote a DL player to his minor league roster and then call him up later. After reviewing the rules, the answer to this is yes. I may revisit this issue next year but this year it is perfectly acceptable.

Of course, the downside is that the DL player reduces the number of minor league picks available to the manager.

So if you would like to use your minor league roster to stash a DL player, please post it on the home page. This year it's OK.

  • Gentlemen, a few things about the minor leaguers:

    1. All changes to your minor league roster must be announced by end of day on March 31st. If you do not announce any changes, you will carry all players forward who are currently on your minor league roster.

    2. Shelby Miller seems to be a popular pick. I reversed 2 pick-ups for him so far...... He is owned by Hammering Fastballs.

    3. You have the right to demote any player who was on your roster at the end of last year to your minor league roster. No players picked up so far this year may be demoted to your minor league roster. You must either keep them or drop them. (This hasn't been a problem. Just letting everyone know.)

Good activity so far, gentlemen. Looks like a competitive season coming up.

  • Gentlemen, please be sure to check the minor league list on my blog spot if you are looking to pick up some young bucks. They may already be someone else's buck.

I noticed a couple minor leagues who were just picked up and will undo the transactions --- since they were on another manager's list. Thanks.

  • Gentlemen, I have posted the 2013 league rules for our Couch Managers Dynasty league on my blogspot. I will also send a copy of them to you in a Word document when I get a chance.

Please note that there is a lot of important stuff in the rules. Make sure you understand them.

    The blogspot is http://therichjustmann.blogspot.com/.

If any questions, just let me know. Thanks.

  • Hi Gents. OK, I've figured out how we can keep all our players. This year we will have 8 bench slots. This is in place of the 5 bench slots and 3 DL slots you had last year.

This change will allow you to keep ALL your players from last year.

The new roster setup will remain in place for the entire year.

  • Gentlemen, you should each go into your team from last year and select them all as keepers.

Couple things: First, since Yahoo hasn't fixed the history issue for our league yet, you will need to access your team through your Fantasy Profile.

Secondly, if you had any players on the DL, you will not be able to select them as keepers within the system. Not sure how we'll handle your getting them back but we'll figure it out. Thanks.

  • Welcome back, guys. Yahoo is having some technical issues with some of their leagues. This happens to be one of them. I had to go back and invite each of you individually --- the system did not send invitations automatically.

More importantly, there is no history for the league right now. This is a "known issue" for some of the Yahoo leagues and hopefully will be corrected soon.
