  • Zack Neto collects two hits, two RBI in victory
    Zach Neto finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI as the Angels topped the Orioles 7-4 on Tuesday.

    Advice: Neto has two hits in back-to-back games, raising his average from .167 to .205. He should continue to improve from here, and while he’s not currently a mixed-league option as the Angels’ No. 9 hitter, it’s quite possible he’ll prove useful later this season. Rotoworld Today, 10:42 pm
  • Griffin Canning gives up three runs in first win
    Griffin Canning yielded three runs in five innings Tuesday in a win over the Orioles.

    Advice: Canning is on the board after going 0-3 with an 8.05 ERA in his first four starts. The injury likelihood remains higher here than it is with more pitchers, but Canning should prove better than this in the long run. It’s encouraging that his velocity has been higher in his last two starts than it was in his first three, though he’s still down a tad more than one mph from last year. Rotoworld Today, 10:42 pm
  • Carlos Estévez fans two in perfect ninth
    Carlos Estévez struck out two in a perfect ninth for a save Tuesday versus the Orioles.

    Advice: Estévez averaged 96.3 mph with his fastball tonight, which is up about two mph from spring training and one mph from Opening Day. He’s still one mph off from last year, but it’s looking like he’ll get there, and with Robert Stephenson out for the season and José Soriano in the rotation, he seems like a much better bet than he did a month ago.   • Grayson Rodriguez roughed up by Angels in defeat
    Grayson Rodriguez was pummeled for seven runs and 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Angels.

    Advice: Rodriguez blamed the poor showing on leaving too many pitches down the middle of the plate. He got 14 missed swings and seven strikeouts, but 10 of the 14 balls in play against him were hard hit. It’s his first loss of the year, leaving him 3-1 with a 4.45 ERA. Rotoworld Today, 10:42 pm
  • Ryan Mountcastle singles as pinch-hitter
    Ryan Mountcastle came off the bench on Tuesday and singled as a pinch-hitter against the Angels.

    Advice: Mountcastle was out of the starting lineup for a second straight day due to knee soreness. That he felt well enough to stay in and play first base after batting tonight bodes well for Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 10:42 pm
  • Logan Webb shuts out Mets for eight in win
    Logan Webb scattered six hits over eight scoreless innings Tuesday in the Giants’ 5-1 takedown of the Mets.

    Advice: Webb was a groundball machine while allowing four singles and two doubles tonight. He walked one and struck out four. That the Giants have Nick Ahmed at short and Matt Chapman at third is definitely paying dividends this season, particularly when the team’s ace is on the mound. Rotoworld Today, 10:02 pm
  • Severino suffers through one bad inning in loss
    Luis Severino surrendered three runs in six innings Tuesday in a loss to the Giants.

    Advice: Severino didn’t have much luck tonight; all of the runs came on four singles in the fifth, and only of those was a hard-hit ball. He allowed just one other single and no walks over the other five innings, and he struck out five. He’ll take a 2.67 ERA into his next start versus the Cubs. Rotoworld Today, 10:02 pm
  • Mike Yastrzemski drives in three versus Mets
    Mike Yastrzemski knocked in three runs with two singles against the Mets on Tuesday.

    Advice: Both were rather soft hits, and he struck out in his other at-bat, so we’re not sure we’d say his early slump is over. Yastrzemski is hitting .208/.296/.271 through 55 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 10:02 pm
  • Joey Wendle goes 0-for-4 in loss to Giants
    Joey Wendle went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Giants on Tuesday.

    Advice: It seems way off that Wendle has started three of the Mets’ last five games while Tyrone Taylor has been on the bench for all five. To be fair, Brett Baty was unavailable for two of those, making Wendle a reasonable option at third. However, the Mets put Wendle at second and Jeff McNeil in left field tonight, even though Taylor in left with McNeil at his usual position was almost surely the better option.
