    • Jeff Keppinger delivered a walk-off RBI single in a 4-3 win over the Marlins in 11 innings on Friday.
Advice: Keppinger sneaked it through the left side of the infield with the bases loaded to win it. The veteran infielder went 2-for-5 with two RBI on the night and is hitting .343 (11-for-32) over his last nine games. The recent hot streak has only pulled his batting average up to .210 for the year, but we expect it to continue to rise in the days ahead.

    • Brett Lawrie was ejected from Friday's game against the Orioles after objecting to a called third strike.
Advice: Lawrie slammed his batting helmet and threw his batting gloves before getting tossed. Lawrie had launched a solo homer in his other at-bat in the game, perhaps some of the frustration came from the 9-3 deficit that his team was facing in only the third inning. He'll watch the rest of the game from the clubhouse.

    • Miguel Cabrera continued to torment major league pitching Thursday, going 2-for-3 with another homer in a comeback win against the Twins.
Advice: He also walked twice. Now on a four-game home run streak, Cabrera is 9-for-15 (.600) with five walks, a double, six homers, 13 RBI and nine runs during that stretch. He's first in the AL in batting average (.391), second in homers (14), and first in RBI (55), runs (39), slugging percentage (.701) and OPS (1.168). He's only eighth in walks (25) at the moment, but he'll be gifted plenty more of those as teams realize it's an awful idea to throw Cabrera a hittable pitch at the moment.

    • Miguel Cabrera hit his 12th home run of the season Tuesday in the Tigers' win over the Indians.
Advice: The home run raised his RBI total to a ridiculous 49, and he's now hitting .384/.455/.667 on the season. A Triple Crown is a rare feat, but Cabrera may actually be an odds-on favorite to repeat this year with how he's hitting.

    • Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-4 with three home runs and five RBI in Sunday night's loss to the Rangers.
Advice: Cabrera launched a three-run homer in the third inning and a solo shot in the fifth off Derek Holland before he added a third home run late off Tanner Scheppers. The weather conditions at Arlington obviously played a factor, but it was a monster of a performance. Cabrera is currently on track to have a better season than his Triple Crown winning campaign in 2012. He has 11 home runs and leads the American League in batting average (.387), runs (34), and slugging-percentage (.659).

    • Kevin Youkilis (back) took six at-bats in a simulated game Wednesday.
Advice: It was reported previously that Youkilis played in an extended spring game Tuesday, but that was actually also a simulated game. It's not clear when he'll be ready to play in a real game, but he's not far off. "I can't tell you," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "I think you have to give him a few days in a row before you evaluate to make sure that his back is healed and it doesn't come back. The last two days have been pretty good, so he's getting closer."

    • Luis Valbuena had a decent night at the dish in Friday's loss to the Reds, going 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and RBI.
Advice: Valbuena hasn't been great, but has done enough to lock up the everyday job as the Cubs third baseman for the time being. Through his first 38 games, he's hitting .257/.361/.442 with five homers and 15 RBI. He could be worth a look as an injury replacement in deeper mixed leagues, especially playing half his games at the friendly confines of Wrigley Field.

    • Dodgers manager Don Mattingly indicated Friday that Hanley Ramirez (hamstring) will probably need 4-5 rehab games before returning to the lineup.
Advice: Ramirez said earlier in the day that he felt he was ready to return with his hamstring as is, but the organization is opting to play it safe and not rush the oft-injured shortstop back to the lineup. Look for him to return to the lineup in early June.

    • Nationals prospect infielder Anthony Rendon is out of the lineup for Double-A Harrisburg after having his wisdom teeth removed.
Advice: He should be good to go in the next day or two. Rendon is hitting .359 (23-for-64) with four homers and a 1.201 OPS since his demotion earlier this month and could be an option with the big club again if Danny Espinosa's wrist injury lingers.

    • Nationals prospect Anthony Rendon started at second base Monday night for Double-A Harrisburg.
Advice: It's interesting given Danny Espinosa's struggles, but Nationals manager Davey Johnson doesn't think Rendon is ready to play second base at the major league level yet. "We like him - we like him a lot," said Johnson. "But putting him at second at the major-league level, he's not there yet. He's not (playing second) specifically. He's just occasionally going over there." Rendon is hitting .390 (23-for-59) with four home runs and 16 RBI since his demotion earlier this month. • Miguel Tejada smacked his second home run of the season in a losing effort against the Angels on Friday.
Advice: He finished the night 1-for-3. Surprisingly, Tejada has actually been a fairly useful plater in his limited at-bats, hitting .333/.375/.567 with a pair of homers and seven RBI in his first 32 at-bats. Advice: Tejada has started just seven games this season, even though the Royals have gotten terrible production at third base, second base and first base. What's the harm in giving him an expanded role for a bit? For what it's worth, he's gone 9-for-27 with six RBI in his limited action.
