Joakim Soria (elbow) will throw live batting practice on Friday.
Advice: He'll throw 2-3 live BP sessions before possibly being cleared to begin a rehab assignment. The Rangers are hoping Soria will join their bullpen sometime next month. "I can't wait," Soria said. "I have been working hard in Arizona, but I'm really happy to get here and be around a Major League club again -- start living this life again, the atmosphere, getting excited for a game. That pushes me even more."

Esmil Rogers pitched seven innings of one-run ball and picked up a win Thursday against the Rangers.
Advice: Rogers played Yu Darvish to a stalemate, and the Blue Jays scored two runs in the top of the eighth off the Texas bullpen to put Rogers in line for the win. Steve Delabar and Casey Janssen pitched scoreless innings from there. Rogers won despite striking out just one batter. The lone run came on Nelson Cruz's homer. Rogers almost certainly guaranteed himself another start with the performance, and since that seems likely to come at home against the Troy Tulowitzki-less Rockies, he's not a bad spot option in AL-only leagues.

Patrick Corbin was removed after allowing four runs in five innings Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Advice: Corbin was in line for his first loss when he exited, but the Diamondbacks rallied and ended up winning in 12. It's the second straight outing in which he's left with the Diamondbacks in a hole. However, Arizona remains a perfect 13-0 with him on the mound.

Roy Oswalt allowed no runs on five hits over 8 1/3 innings in his start Friday with Double-A Tulsa.
Advice: He threw 102 pitches, 60 strikes and had seven strikeouts. Oswalt now has a 2.16 ERA over four rehab starts. He remains on track to join the Rockies' rotation Wednesday against Toronto.

Ross Detwiler was serviceable in his return from the disabled list Thursday, allowing three runs over five frames in a 5-4 win over the Rockies.
Advice: Detwiler gave up six hits, hit a batter, didn't walk anyone and struck out a pair. Not quite fully stretched out, he was removed after throwing 77 pitches. The left-hander now has a 3.03 ERA for the season, but it's come along with a 1.42 WHIP and just 25 strikeouts over 50 2/3 innings. He'll face the Phillies on the road next.

Pirates released RHP Jose Contreras.
Advice: Contreras has a 9.00 ERA in seven appearances with the Pirates this season before going on the DL with a back injury. It could be the end of the line for the 41-year-old.

Padres activated RHP Huston Street from the 15-day disabled list.
Advice: The Padres were pleased with how Street threw the ball during a minor league rehab assignment, and he appears to be completely recovered from his strained left calf. The Padres' closer has converted 11 of his first 12 save chances while posting a 4.43 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 13/8 K/BB ratio in 20 1/3 innings.

Heath Bell gave up his second homer in two days Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Advice: Bell was working with a four-run lead, so the fact that he allowed a solo homer and another run didn't cost the Diamondbacks. Still, it's a bit of a concern that he's suddenly allowed homers to Juan Uribe and Ramon Hernandez the last two days. He had gone 25 straight appearances without giving up a homer after allowing two in his season debut April 2.

Jonathan Papelbon took his first blown save of the year when he gave up a solo homer to the Nationals' Chad Tracy on Monday.
Advice: Papelbon was a perfect 13-for-13 this season before missing inside to Tracy tonight. It wasn't much more than a 340-foot flyball, but it was well placed down the line at Citizens Bank. Papelbon ended up getting the win anyway after the Phillies scored in the bottom of the ninth.

Pirates designated LHP Mike Zagurski for assignment.
Advice: Zagurski was called up last month and posted a a 15.00 ERA in six games. Brandon Cumpton has been promoted from Triple-A Indianapolis to start Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Vinnie Pestano recorded his first save of the season Sunday, tossing a scoreless inning in a win over the Nationals.
Advice: It was Pestano's first save chance since he took over the ninth inning for the injured Chris Perez three weeks ago. Unfortunately for his fantasy owners, Perez is due back this week. Still, Pestano is worth hanging onto.

Giants designated RHP Ramon Ramirez for assignment.
Advice: Ramirez was called up from the minors late last month and allowed seven runs on nine hits and five walks over just 5 2/3 innings. Jake Dunning will replace him in the Giants' bullpen.

Red Sox recalled RHP Alex Wilson from Triple-A Pawtucket.
Advice: Wilson had a 2.50 ERA in 16 appearances with the Red Sox earlier this season. He will operate in middle relief.

Shelby Miller left Monday's start against the Cubs after five innings with a right leg cramp.
Advice: Miller was examined by trainers after stretching out his calf on the mound with one out in the fifth. He stayed in and retired the next two hitters but was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the frame. The youngster should be fine for his next outing, which will come against the Rangers this weekend. He tossed five scoreless innings on two hits and two walks while striking out five before exiting.

Scott Atchison (elbow) is expected to rejoin the Mets' bullpen at some point this weekend.
Advice: Atchison began a rehab assignment on Wednesday at Double-A Binghamton and should be cleared after one or two more appearances. The right-hander has been on the disabled list since May 14 with a sore elbow.

Yankees optioned RHP Adam Warren to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Advice: Warren gets the unfortunate demotion after hurling six innings of scoreless relief in Thursday's 18-inning loss to the Athletics. He posted a 3.12 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over 34 2/3 innings on the season, and will surely be back with the team at some point this summer.

According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, the Mets do not expect to trade Bobby Parnell.
Advice: Parnell is one of the Mets' few attractive deadline chips, but the 28-year-old right-hander is under contract for two more seasons beyond this one and there's no rush to get him out the door quite yet. Parnell has a 2.83 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 26/8 K/BB ratio in 28 2/3 innings this year and he is 9-for-12 so far in save opportunities.

Chris Perez (shoulder) will throw one inning Sunday in a rehab game with Low-A Lake Country.
Advice: Perez tossed multiple bullpen sessions this week and had no issues with his shoulder. He's on track to return to the Indians' bullpen within the next 3-4 days and should slide back into the ninth-inning role almost immediately. Perez is 6-for-8 in save opportunities this season.
