• Homers in second straight game
Polanco went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, two walks and three total runs in Monday's 9-3 victory versus Cincinnati.

Advice: Polanco helped the Mariners get off to a fast start with his three-run shot off Frankie Montas in the first inning. It was the second homer in as many days for Polanco, and he's drive in five runs over the two-game span. The veteran infielder could be picking things up after a slow overall start to the season -- he's slashing just .203/.338/.356 with a 32.4 percent strikeout rate through 71 plate appearances. • Enjoys big game at dish
Haniger went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk, three total RBI and two total runs Monday in a 9-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Haniger batted cleanup as the Mariners' DH and drilled a two-run homer in the third inning along with a run-scoring double in the seventh. The slugger extended his hitting streak to six games, though this was his first multi-hit effort during that stretch. Haniger appears to be fully healthy this year following two straight injury-plagued campaigns, and he's had good results at the plate thus far, slashing .286/.375/.500 with three homers, 11 RBI and nine runs through 64 plate appearances. • Homers in return
Ruiz hit a solo home run in his lone plate appearance in a loss to the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: Ruiz was recalled from Triple-A prior to the contest and entered as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning. He produced Oakland's only run of the game when he smashed a 406-foot solo shot off Cardinals reliever JoJo Romero. It was a bit baffling when the A's sent Ruiz to the minors April 1, as he had gone 3-for-7 with a stolen base over his first three games. He played well during his Triple-A stint, slashing .326/.423/.581 with seven thefts in eight tries and showed more than his usual amount of power with three long balls. He probably isn't going to suddenly become a home-run hitter, but that's fine with most fantasy managers who hung onto him during his demotion -- after Ruiz racked up an AL-leading 67 thefts as a rookie last year, he figures to be a difference-maker in that category (if given enough playing time) now that he's back in the big leagues. • Nico Hoerner comes through late in Cubs’ win
Nico Hoerner scored the tying run in the ninth and drove in the go-ahead run in the 11th as the Cubs edged the Diamondbacks 3-2 on Monday.

Advice: Hoerner singled in the ninth, advanced to second on another second and then scored the tying run on a wild pitch, never hesitating as he rounded third. In all, he reached three times tonight, giving him a .371 OBP in spite of a .208 average. The Cubs opted to move Dansby Swanson up in the lineup, rather than Hoerner, with Seiya Suzuki going on the IL, but maybe they’ll reconsider. Swanson went 0-for-5 tonight, leaving him with a .303 OBP, and he’s not the difference-maker on the basepaths than Hoerner can be. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

  • Michael Busch homers in fifth straight game
Michael Busch made it five straight games with a homer by taking Merrill Kelly deep Monday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Kelly had pitched five scoreless innings before Busch hit one 419 feet in the sixth. Busch also walked twice tonight and made a strong case for remaining in the lineup when the Cubs face a lefty in Tommy Henry on Tuesday. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

  • CJ Abrams homers, doubles to lead Nationals
CJ Abrams collected his fourth homer and his third double in the Nationals’ 6-4 defeat of the Dodgers on Monday.

Advice: It was reasonable to question whether Abrams would improve on last year’s total of 18 homers or perhaps regress there some, given his modest exit velocity numbers, but he’s hitting the ball harder this year and getting results. OBP still might be a question going forward, but he figures to remain very valuable for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld Today, 10:23 pm

  • Mitch Haniger homers, drives in three in victory
Mitch Haniger delivered a two-run homer and an RBI double in Monday’s win over the Reds.

Advice: Haniger had been pretty quiet since his big Opening Day in his return to Seattle, but this puts him back up to .286/.375/.500 for the season. The Mariners had him DH today for the first time since March 31. That they’re treating Mitch Garver like a full-time DH means they can’t give Haniger the additional time off his feet that might help him remain healthy in the long run. • Jonathan India goes 0-for-4 as leadoff man
Jonathan India went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts from the leadoff spot Monday against the Mariners.

Advice: India has walked 13 times this season, so he has a solid .352 OBP in spite of a .182 average. Still, the Reds ought to try Jake Fraley or Elly De La Cruz in the leadoff spot until India heats up. That said, David Bell seems to really like his set lineup at the moment; he’s continued to hit Christian Encarnacion-Strand third in spite of his struggles, and he’s refused to move De La Cruz up from the sixth spot. • Swats go-ahead home run
Trout went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run during Monday's 7-3 win over the Rays.

Advice: Trout got the Angels on the board with a two-run homer in the eighth as part of a five-run inning, giving the Halos the lead and eventual victory. During his last eight games, Trout is batting 11-for-32 (.344) with four home runs and seven runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 9:51 pm
