    • Says his back is fine
Gibson said Thursday that he feels fine after being scratched from a scheduled start Wednesday in Miami due to back tightness, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: The pitcher even said he's hoping to pitch in relief Thursday against the Giants, although that seems unlikely. It's not clear when Gibson might make his next start, but it sounds like a stint on the injured list can safely be ruled out. Rotowire.com Today, 9:19 am

    • Swats solo shot in victory
Paredes went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning win against Minnesota.

Advice: Paredes supplied the only run off Twins starter Joe Ryan with his third-inning solo shot to left field. The long ball was his first of June and just his second over his past 25 contests. Paredes has slowed down in the power department after a fast start to the season, but he's still the Rays' leader with 11 home runs overall. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:08 pm

    • Isaac Paredes leaves the yard in victory over Twins
Isaac Paredes slugged his 11th home run of the season on Wednesday night, helping to power the Twins past the Rays in extra innings.

Advice: Paredes opened the scoring in the contest with a 359-foot (95.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Joe Ryan that was pulled down the left field line. The 25-year-old slugger also singled and walked in the contest, finishing the night 2-for-3. On the season, he’s slashing a healthy .286/.368/.475 with the aforementioned 11 long balls and 39 RBI. • Kyle Bradish undergoes Tommy John surgery
The Orioles announced on Wednesday that Kyle Bradish underwent successful Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery with an internal brace procedure on Wednesday in Dallas.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander will obviously miss the remainder of the 2024 season and will miss at least the first half of the 2025 campaign as well while recovering from the surgery. Fantasy managers in season-long leagues can safely cut bait now. He finishes the 2024 season with a 2.75 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 53/15 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings in his eight starts. • Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Orioles general manager Mike Elias announced that Bradish (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery with an internal brace Wednesday, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: Bradish was first diagnosed with a partial UCL tear in his elbow in mid-February, and while his initial rehab was successful -- he posted a 2.75 ERA and 53:15 K:BB over 39.1 innings covering eight starts -- he suffered a setback coming out of his most recent outing last Friday. After having his elbow re-examined, Bradish made the decision to have the surgery. Elias said Wednesday that he expects Bradish to miss 12-to-18 months, leaving the right-hander's availability for the entire 2025 season in doubt. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:06 pm

    • Kyle Gibson gets scratched due to back tightness
Kyle Gibson was scratched from his start Wednesday against the Marlins due to back tightness.

Advice: Gibson was activated from the bereavement list before the game, but he won’t be able to go today. Matthew Liberatore is starting in his place. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:44 am

    • Late scratch with back tightness
Gibson was scratched from Wednesday's start in Miami due to back tightness, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Matthew Liberatore will draw the start Wednesday on short notice, as Gibson's back must have tightened up on him while he was warming up before the game. Consider Gibson day-to-day until the Cardinals provide more details. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:43 am

    • Cardinals activate Kyle Gibson to start Wednesday
Cardinals activated RHP Kyle Gibson from the bereavement list.

Advice: Gibson will start against the Marlins today on normal rest after three days off the roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:23 am

    • Getting day off
Vierling is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Atlanta, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: Vierling had made 13 consecutive starts and the Tigers are wrapping up their series with a day game after a night game, so the 27-year-old is presumably just getting some routine maintenance. With Vierling on the bench, the Tigers will open up a spot in the starting outfield for Akil Baddoo, who will man left and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:51 am
