    • Victorious in O's debut
Burnes (1-0) allowed one earned run on one hit and no walks while striking out 11 in Thursday's win over the Angels.

Advice: Burnes served up a home run to Mike Trout in the first inning, which accounted for the only baserunner he allowed. All told, he racked up 12 swinging strikes across his 82 total pitches to cruise to his first victory with Baltimore. Burnes tentatively lines up for another favorable matchup in his second outing of the season against the Royals. Rotowire.com 47 minutes ago

    • Three-hit start to season
Burger went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored in Thursday's Opening Day loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Burger added a sacrifice fly that gave the Marlins a 5-2 lead in the fifth, but that was the last run Miami would score as the Pirates clawed back to steal the win. It was a good start to the season for Burger, who hit 34 home runs last season split between the Marlins and White Sox. Burger will man the everyday role at third base for the Marlins this season. • Nathan Eovaldi throws six solid in no-decision
Nathan Eovaldi didn’t factor in the decision Thursday against the Cubs after allowing two runs over six innings with one walk and three strikeouts.

Advice: Eovaldi gave up an early run with a sac fly off the bat of Dansby Swanson in the second, but settled down nicely over the next few frames. He did allow an RBI double in the sixth to Cody Bellinger, but outside of that the right-hander had a solid — if unspectacular — outing against the Chicago lineup. Eovaldi was nails for Texas for the majority of the 2023 season, and he’ll be counted on to be the ace of the staff while several Rangers’ starters look to recover from injury. He’ll likely start again early next week against the Rays. Rotoworld Today, 8:12 pm

    • Records first save
Jax threw a scoreless inning with a walk and strikeout to record the save in Thursday's Opening Day win at Kansas City.

Advice: With Jhoan Duran (oblique) on the injured list and expected to miss several weeks, it was Jax who got the call in the 9th inning to protect a three-run lead. Brock Stewart was used in the eighth inning, so it looks like Jax will be the primary closer with Duran out. However, the Twins could mix and match the two in save situations. • Three hits in Opening Day win
Correa went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a walk in Thursday's Opening Day win at Kansas City.

Advice: Correa played through plantar fasciitis in his left foot for most of last season but was pain-free in spring training. After one game it looks like full health could result in a bounce-back season. Correa slashed just .230/.312/.399 with 18 home runs and 65 RBI in 580 plate appearances last season. • Jake Burger has three hits, plates three in loss
Jake Burger went 3-for-4 with three RBI on Thursday in the Marlins’ Opening Day loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Burger extended Miami’s early lead with a two-run single in the third inning before adding a sacrifice fly a couple frames later. The 27-year-old corner infielder has settled in nicely as a run-producing, middle-of-the-order mainstay for the Marlins. Rotoworld Today, 5:15 pm

    • Nearing mound work
Manager Torey Lovullo said Rodriguez (shoulder) could throw off a mound within the next week, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Rodriguez is still expected to miss several weeks due to his strained left shoulder, but Lovullo said the left-hander's progress has been "very encouraging" so far. A quick return to mound work would make it easier for the Diamondbacks to build him back up quickly, although Rodriguez will likely need to throw a few bullpen sessions before the team starts thinking about a return date. • Griffin Jax gets the save on Opening Day
Griffin Jax earned the save for the Twins in Thursday’s Opening Day win over the Royals.

Advice: Jax was expected to be the favorite to get saves with Jhoan Duran sidelined and that appears to be the case. After one game at least. He allowed a leadoff walk but settled down afterward, and the Royals never really threatened. Jax’s sweeper is noticeably different this year, coming in two mph harder with five inches less vertical drop and three inches less horizontal movement. He leaned on the pitch 35 percent of the time on Thursday and it picked up three whiffs on four swings. He has the skills to be a solid fill-in for the next month or so. Rotoworld Today, 3:49 pm
    • Correa has three hits in Twins’ Opening Day win
Carlos Correa went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in a win over the Royals on Opening Day on Thursday.

Advice: Correa’s double was 105.1 mph off the bat against Ragans in the third inning and scored Manuel Margot for the team’s second run of the day. He also singled on a well-hit ball in the 8th innings before racking up his other RBI on a softly hit infield single in the 9th. The veteran is hitting fourth in a solid Twins lineup which should continue to give him a good chance to rack up runs and RBIs, provided everybody can stay healthy.
