    • Brewers reinstate Payamps from bereavement list
Brewers reinstated RHP Joel Payamps from the bereavement list.

Advice: Payamps will be available tonight after a weekend away. He’ll probably pitch in front of Trevor Megill for the most part. Rotoworld Monday, 2:22 pm

    • Throws off mound
Pepiot (leg) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Sunday, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Advice: Pepiot landed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday after sustaining a lower left leg contusion when he was hit by a line drive in his start against the Mets last Sunday. He noted that he felt good after the throwing session Sunday, and he could return from the IL when first eligible May 21. The right-hander confirmed after the bullpen session that he doesn't expect to need a rehab start in the minors prior to being activated. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:09 am

    • Charged with blown save
Ginkel allowed one run on one hit over one inning and was charged with a blown save in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Orioles.

Advice: With the Diamondbacks ahead 4-3, Ginkel entered to start the eighth inning and dispatched the first two batters with ease before Anthony Santander squared up a fastball outside the zone for a game-tying home run. It was the third blown save of the season for Ginkel, who was moved back to a setup role when Paul Sewald was activated off the injured list last week. Ginkel has a 3.31 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with four walks and 15 strikeouts over 16.1 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:45 am

    • Picks up third hold
Duran walked one batter in a scoreless eighth inning Friday to record his third hold of the season in a 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: The right-hander once again got used as a fireman rather than a closer, facing the top of the Toronto order in the eighth rather than being held back for the ninth. Griffin Jax wound up giving up a run in ninth but still came away with the save. Duran has three saves and three holds in six appearances since coming off the IL on April 30, and he's been lights out in general, posting a 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP and 8:1 K:BB through six innings. His usage could hurt his fantasy value in standard 5x5 roto or points formats that count saves but not holds, but Twins manager Rocco Baldelli isn't likely to change up how he deploys Duran as long as it keeps working. • Blows save, takes loss
Estevez (0-2) blew the save and took the loss Friday against Kansas City. He allowed two runs on three hits and no walks with one strikeout over one inning.

Advice: Estevez allowed a lead-taking, two-run homer to Adam Frazier in the ninth inning to blow his third save on the year. Remarkably, the Angels closer has yet to issue a free pass this season after posting a shaky 11.0 percent walk rate in 2023, but he has allowed three homers over 11.2 innings, leading to a 6.17 ERA. Despite the ugly ERA, Estevez's hold on the ninth-inning role seems to be fairly secure thanks in large part to a career-high 30.4 percent strikeout rate. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:56 pm
    • Carlos Estévez blows save, takes loss vs. Royals
Carlos Estévez allowed two runs in an inning of work while blowing a save Friday against the Royals and also picking up a loss.

Advice: This is already the third blown save of the season for the right-hander. He gave up a two-run homer to Adam Frazier of all people, and that turned a 1-0 lead for the Angels into a 2-1 score and ultimately a loss. Estévez is going to get the overwhelming majority of save chances for the Angels, but he’s a middling option at best with just so-so results and a very bad baseball team to give him those chances. • Notches fifth save
Hader earned the save in Friday's 5-2 win over the Tigers, working around a walk while striking out two in a scoreless inning.

Advice: Hader's allowed just one earned run over his last 7.1 innings while improving to 5-for-6 in converting save chances. After a shaky start to the year, the left-hander's lowered his ERA to 5.29 with a 1.35 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB across 17 innings. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:52 pm

    • Jhoan Duran gets hold against Blue Jays
Jhoan Duran pitched a hitless eighth against the Blue Jays for his third hold Friday.

Advice: Everything seemed great when Duran notched saves in his first two appearances back from the IL, but he’s been asked to pitch the eighth in three of four outings since. It’s strictly a leverage thing, but it’s annoying for us fantasy leaguers. Duran has been practically perfect since being activated, allowing a total of two hits in six scoreless innings. Rotoworld Friday, 6:58 pm
    • Josh Hader slams door on Tigers on Friday night
Josh Hader picked up his fifth save of the season on Friday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a three-run advantage against the Tigers.

Advice: After struggling for most of the season, Hader recorded saves on back-to-back nights for the first time all season. The 30-year-old southpaw did issue a two-out walk to Jake Rogers after getting Ryan Vilade on a swinging-third strike, Javier Baez on a fly ball to center, but he battled back to get Andy Ibanez on strikes to end it. He has now converted five of his first six save chances with an impressive 27/8 K/BB ratio over 17 innings on the year — it’s just the 5.29 ERA that looks horribly out of place.
