• Spencer Torkelson picks up two hits in win
Spencer Torkelson went 2-for-4 in a victory Thursday over the White Sox.

Advice: Torkelson was the only player for either team that picked up multiple hits. The former first-overall pick got off to a slow start in 2023, but was one of the better options at first base over the second-half of the campaign. It’s never been a question of talent with Torkelson, and based on what he’s shown as of late, he’s starting to apply that talent and then some. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago
  • Ibanez drives in winning run against White Sox
Andy Ibanez went 1-for-2 with an RBI during Thursday’s victory over the White Sox.

Advice: The RBI was a sac fly that scored Javier Baez in the third inning. It was the only run either team scored in a game that featured fantastic pitching from Tarik Skubal and Garrett Crochet and less-than-spectacular offense from either club. Ibanez hit at the top of the lineup Thursday, and he’ll likely get a chance to do it against left-handed pitching for the foreseeable future. Even still, the fantasy upside is rather limited. • Scores lone run in opening win
Baez went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's 1-0 win over the White Sox. He also stole a base.

Advice: Baez manufactured the game's lone run in the third inning. He led off the frame with a single, stole second, then advanced to third and scored on a pair of sacrifice flies. While it's a decently promising start for the shortstop, it was concerning to see him bat eighth on Opening Day. Baez may be able to have a bounceback campaign in 2024, though it would help his cause if he's able to move up in the order. Rotowire.com 47 minutes ago

  • Oneil Cruz homers, Bucs outlast Fish in marathon
Oneil Cruz clobbered a solo homer on Thursday, leading the Pirates to a 6-5 extra-inning Opening Day victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Pittsburgh emerged victorious in a 12-inning Opening Day marathon that took nearly four hours to complete. Cruz’s torrid spring training performance carried over into this one as he launched a game-tying eighth-inning solo shot to left-center field off Marlins reliever Sixto Sánchez. The 25-year-old shortstop batted sixth in this one, which is pretty surprising, and seems unlikely to continue for very long. Rotoworld Today, 5:16 pm

  • Jake Burger has three hits, plates three in loss
Jake Burger went 3-for-4 with three RBI on Thursday in the Marlins’ Opening Day loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Burger extended Miami’s early lead with a two-run single in the third inning before adding a sacrifice fly a couple frames later. The 27-year-old corner infielder has settled in nicely as a run-producing, middle-of-the-order mainstay for the Marlins. Rotoworld Today, 5:15 pm

  • Awaiting MRI results
Lewis (quadriceps) underwent an MRI and is awaiting results after exiting Thursday's game against the Royals, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Advice: Lewis was forced to exit the game after injuring himself running the bases in the third inning. He described the issue as feeling like a cramp, though nothing official has been announced. Lewis's status will become clearer once the results of the MRI are known. Rotowire.com Today, 4:28 pm

  • Freddie Freeman homers, knocks in three runs
Freddie Freeman contributed a two-run homer, an RBI single and a walk against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: After going without an RBI in South Korea, Freeman drove in runs in his first two at-bats today. The homer in the third inning came after Shohei Ohtani walked on a 3-1 pitch that was very much a strike. Mookie Betts had already homered in the frame, and the top three in the Dodgers order combined to go 5-for-7 with four walks in the contest. Rotoworld Today, 4:06 pm
