Corey Seager, who hurt his left hand when he was hit by a pitch Saturday, is out of the Rangers lineup for Sunday night’s game against the Orioles.
Advice: Josh Smith starts at shortstop, with Davis Wendzel playing third base. The good news is that Seager isn’t going on the IL, at least not yet. The Rangers have tomorrow off, so they can wait until Tuesday to make a decision there. RotoworldYesterday, 1:41 pm
Seager (wrist) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
Advice: The 30-year-old had X-rays come back negative after being struck in the left wrist by a pitch Saturday, and he'll miss at least one start. The Rangers are calling up Jonathan Ornelas for added infield depth, per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, which could signify that Seager will miss some time. No IL move is coming Sunday though, as Brock Burke was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock. Josh Smith is starting at shortstop as Davis Wendzel mans the hot corner. Rotowire.comYesterday, 1:37 pm
Merrifield will start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Marlins.
Advice: Merrifield will get his third start in four games and should be in store for an uptick in playing time in the short term after the Phillies recently placed both Bryce Harper (hamstring) and Kyle Schwarber (groin) on the injured list. Through 16 games in June while seeing mostly sporadic at-bats, Merrifield has slashed .216/.293/.297 with one home run and one stolen base. Rotowire.comYesterday, 10:32 am
Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Astros.
Advice: It's a well-deserved day off for Alvarez, who posted a .471/.558/.882 slash line with five doubles and three homers while starting the past 17 games. Luis Torrens will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Luis Severino on Sunday. Rotowire.comYesterday, 9:29 am
Soler went 2-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's extra-innings loss to the Dodgers.
Advice: Soler doubled in his first at-bat before coming around to score the Giants' first run of the game on a sac fly from Heliot Ramos. The slugger then added an RBI double to tie the game at 2-2 in the third, giving him three extra-base hits over his last three games. Soler is now batting .275 this month -- a far cry from his .164 average in May -- with three homers, eight doubles, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored. Rotowire.comYesterday, 8:16 am
O'Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning win against Detroit.
Advice: One day after belting a decisive three-run homer in the eighth inning, O'Hoppe tormented the Tigers again with a game-tying solo blast in the eighth frame. The budding star ranks fifth among MLB backstops with 12 long balls on the campaign while slashing a strong .273/.325/.478. O'Hoppe has knocked in at least one run in five of his past six contests and has collected seven total RBI during that span. Rotowire.comYesterday, 8:07 am
Buxton went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer and four RBI in Saturday's win over Seattle.
Advice: Buxton doubled home Carlos Santana with two outs in the fourth to put Minnesota on top 2-1 and later added a three-run shot in the sixth to extend the lead, giving him his fourth home run in his last five games. The outfielder has also tallied multiple hits in four of his last five, posting 11 RBI and eight runs over that stretch while striking out just one time. Rotowire.comYesterday, 7:56 am
Hayes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.
Advice: Jared Triolo will step in at third base while Hayes takes a seat for the series finale in Atlanta. Hayes had started in each of Pittsburgh's last three games, going 4-for-12 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run. Rotowire.comYesterday, 7:54 am
Miller (6-7) took the loss against the Twins on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out six.
Advice: Miller was tagged for runs in the second and fourth innings on three doubles and a single, though the right-hander pitched well outside of those frames while generating 14 whiffs on the night. He also didn't surrender a home run for the third time in his last four starts and fanned six batters in three of his six starts this month. Despite the solid outing, Miller was charged with his seventh loss Saturday and has now lost two straight after previously winning three decisions in a row (over five starts).
