    • Joe Ryan keeps Blue Jays quiet in victory
Joe Ryan pitched seven innings of one-run ball Friday in the Twins’ 3-2 defeat of the Blue Jays.

Advice: The lone run was a 365-foot homer from Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The ball barely rated as hard hit, leaving his bat at 95.5 mph, and was a homer in only 11 ballparks. It’s Ryan’s fourth straight quality start, and he still hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a game this season. Alas, the win tonight was only his second. Ryan will face the Yankees next. • Andrés Giménez gets night off on Friday
Andrés Giménez is not in the Guardians’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the White Sox.

Advice: It looks to be just a regular day of rest for the 25-year-old second baseman. Gabriel Arias will start in his place and will bat eighth for the Guardians against Garrett Crochet and the White Sox. Rotoworld Today, 2:29 pm
    • Seiya Suzuki (oblique) activated from 10-day IL
Cubs activated OF Seiya Suzuki from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: While the 29-year-old slugger was activated from the injured list, he is not in the Cubs’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Pirates as that had been a scheduled day of rest for him after appearing in two straight minor league rehab games. He’ll return to the Cubs’ lineup on Saturday. Suzuki has been sidelined since mid-April due to a right oblique strain. Prior to being shelved, he was hitting .305/.368/.525 with three homers and 13 RBI through his first 15 games on the season. Rotoworld Today, 1:53 pm

    • Comes off injured list
Suzuki (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Suzuki's activation comes at a good time for the Cubs' offense, which just lost Dansby Swanson (knee) to the 10-day IL. Suzuki made two rehab appearances at Triple-A Iowa, going 2-for-5 with a pair of runs and a stolen base. He'll likely return to his usual DH role, which could mean fewer opportunities for Patrick Wisdom. Rotowire.com Today, 1:49 pm

    • Gets break Friday
Gimenez is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: The lefty-hitting infielder will get a break as Cleveland takes on southpaw pitcher Garrett Crochet. Gimenez is out of the starting lineup for the first time since April 26 and slashed .229/.288/.333 with five RBI and one home run in that 12-game stretch. Rotowire.com Today, 1:21 pm
    • Two extra-base hits
Tovar went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, an RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Giants.

Advice: Tovar has been struggling to hit for power across the last few weeks, as he had only three extra-base hits (all doubles) across his last 21 starts entering Thursday's game. He managed to end that drought against the Giants, as he tallied both a double and a triple in the fourth inning when the Rockies batted around. For the season, Tovar has a decent .714 OPS, though that's come with a relatively empty three homers and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com Today, 6:19 am

    • Slugs another homer
Judge went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to Houston on Thursday.

Advice: Judge's eighth-inning solo shot was a massive one, as it traveled an estimated 473 feet. The slugger has turned on his power of late, swatting three homers and driving in six runs over his past four contests. He's now tied with Juan Soto for the team lead with nine home runs and ranks second with 25 RBI on the campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:33 pm

    • Goes deep in loss
Volpe went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in a loss to the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Volpe accounted for New York's first scores with a two-run blast to right field in the third inning. It was his second homer in his past three contests following a 25-game stretch during which he went deep just once. Volpe is still batting just .200 through eight games in May, but he's held onto the leadoff spot, batting first in the order in all of the Yankees' contests so far this month. • Improves to 4-0
Blanco (4-0) earned the win over the Yankees on Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Blanco was a bit shaky with his control, as he threw just 62 of 107 pitches for strikes and tied a season high with four free passes. However, he allowed just one extra-base hit -- an Anthony Volpe two-run homer that accounted for both runs against him. Blanco thus improved his perfect record to 4-0 on the season, and he's allowed three or fewer runs in all seven of his starts. He's also recorded five quality starts on the campaign, falling one out shy in each of his two outings during which he hasn't met that mark. Blanco has cemented his place in Houston's rotation with a 2.23 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 41:20 K:BB through 44.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:04 pm
