Joe Mahoney (hamstring) is expected to begin playing in rehab games Sunday at Triple-A New Orleans.
Advice: Mahoney was placed on the disabled list April 28 with a right hamstring strain. He'll beat Logan Morrison (knee) back to the Marlins' active roster but will probably be sent back to Triple-A when LoMo is deemed fully healthy. Mahoney, 26, carries no fantasy value.

Brett Myers (elbow) will make at least one more rehab start.
Advice: Myers' velocity was down on Wednesday in his second rehab outing with Double-A Akron, and he walked four while allowing three runs over 4 1/3 frames. Assuming his velocity comes back up the next time out, he could rejoin the Indians' rotation after that.

Mike Puma of the New York Post was told by a high-ranking team official that prospect right-hander Zack Wheeler is expected make 2-3 more starts with Triple-A Las Vegas before joining the Mets.
Advice: That would place his major league debut somewhere around June 6 or 11, which would leave the Mets safe from any concerns about eventual Super Two status. Wheeler returned to action Wednesday after a recent collarbone issue and allowed three runs in five innings. The 22-year-old has a 3.99 ERA and 49/20 K/BB ratio in 48 1/3 innings across eight starts this season. He's worth stashing in deeper mixed leagues at this point.

Michael Brantley went 3-for-5 with three RBI in the Indians' loss to the Tigers on Wednesday.
Advice: Brantley did all his damage with three singles, bringing his RBI count to 24 and his batting average to .309 in the process. And the left fielder is 7-for-16 (.438) in his last four games with nine RBI in those 16 at-bats. The 26-year-old is well on his way to an encore of a 2012 season in which he hit .288 with 37 doubles.

Mark Teixeira (wrist) could begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Double-A Trenton.
Advice: Teixeira has participated in simulated games this week without incident and took batting practice Thursday in Tampa. The 33-year-old was originally aiming to return from the disabled by May 31, but he may need a few extra days to shake the rust. Still, he's making fine progress.

Taylor Teagarden (thumb) is slated to start catching live batting practice and hitting off coaches Thursday in Sarasota, Florida.
Advice: Teagarden has been sidelined since April 27 with a dislocated left thumb. The Orioles may want him to go out on a brief minor league assignment, but he appears on track to return early next month.

Ranges released RHP Derek Lowe.
Advice: Lowe cleared waivers and was granted his unconditional release. The 39-year-old right-hander posted a 9.00 ERA in 13 innings with the Rangers and will look to continue his career elsewhere rather than accept an assignment to Triple-A Round Rock.

Carlos Zambrano allowed one (unearned) run over four innings Thursday at extended spring training.
Advice: Zambrano was also good in his first extended spring training start last week, striking out five batters over two scoreless innings. He yielded four hits and a walk on Thursday while fanning four. The right-hander could be an option for the Phils sooner than expected.

Athletics activated SS Hiroyuki Nakajima from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento.
Advice: Nakajima is still working his way back from a hamstring injury he suffered late in spring training. His 20-day rehab window expired on Wednesday, so the Athletics are stashing him in the minors for now.
