    • Dean Kremer struggles in rehab start
Dean Kremer allowed four runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Advice: It’s another poor rehab start for Kremer, who now has an 11.42 ERA during his rehab assignment. He did strike out five while throwing 75 pitches, so it’s possible he could be up to 80-90 pitches in his next outing. Whether the Orioles decide that will come at Triple-A or in the majors is anybody’s guess right now. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:42 am

    • Could return Saturday
Gallen (hamstring) could be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday against Oakland if he recovers well from Thursday's bullpen session, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Thursday's bullpen session will be the second one thrown by Gallen, who also has a couple of simulated games under his belt since he landed on the injured list. The right-hander hasn't appeared in a game since May 30, when he threw just six pitches against the Mets before being removed due to the hamstring strain. Rotowire.com Thursday, 5:36 am
    • Another rehab start Thursday
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that Kremer (tricep) will make another rehab start Thursday at Triple-A Norfolk, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Kremer struggled in his second rehab outing this past Saturday with Norfolk, allowing five runs while recording just two outs. He got his pitch count to 59 in his first rehab start but was pulled from the second outing after throwing just 39 pitches due to a stressful first inning. It's possible Kremer will be ready to return from the 15-day injured list next week, though that decision depends on how he looks Thursday and how much he can get stretched out. The righty has been out since late May with a right triceps strain. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:51 pm

    • Throws sim game
Gallen (hamstring) threw 67 pitches in a simulated game Monday and will next have a bullpen session Thursday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Diamondbacks were preparing for Gallen to throw Monday, whether in a sim game or live batting practice, and decided on the sim game. He next heads to Chase Field on Thursday for a bullpen session, which will be caught by Gabriel Moreno, who is nursing a sprained left thumb. If all goes well Thursday, then Gallen could return during Arizona's series against Oakland that begins Friday. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:35 am
    • Surrenders four runs
Ryan allowed four runs on six hits and struck out five without walking a batter over six innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: Ryan's run of three straight quality starts came to a close, as Arizona got to him early Tuesday. All four runs on his line were surrendered over the first two innings, though he was able to settle down and exit at 86 pitches (58 strikes). This was the fourth time in 2024 that Ryan avoided walking a batter. He's now at a 3.31 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 100:15 K:BB over 98 innings through 16 starts. He's projected to make his next start at Seattle. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:07 pm
    • Joe Ryan can’t overcome bad start versus D-backs
Joe Ryan yielded four runs in six innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: All of the runs came in the first two innings. Ryan excelled afterwards, retiring 14 of the final 15 batters he faced. He struck out five and walked none. Ryan’s next start is likely to come Sunday versus the Mariners. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:17 pm
    • Zac Gallen (hamstring) decision coming this week
Zac Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday.

Advice: Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters they’ll make a decision on Gallen’s next step following his latest throwing session. The hope here for fantasy managers is that the 28-year-old ace will be ready to jump right back into Arizona’s starting rotation without needing a rehab assignment. There should be a decision on his status at some point later this week. Stay tuned. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:07 pm
    • Matt Waldron fans eight in quality start
Matt Waldron pitched six innings of two-run ball Monday against the Nationals.

Advice: Waldron struck out eight in a sixth straight quality start. He threw the knuckler 46 times tonight and wound up with nothing but soft contact against the pitch. There’s still not a whole lot to like about the rest of his arsenal, but the knuckleball has come far enough this year to make him a fine bet going forward. Rotoworld Monday, 10:20 pm
    • Strikes out eight in no-decision
Waldron allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over six innings in a no-decision versus the Nationals on Monday.

Advice: Waldron rattled off his sixth straight quality start, and he's gone nine outings without allowing more than two runs. The run support wasn't there for him Monday, leaving him to take his fifth no-decision of the season. Waldron is at a 3.43 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 84:27 K:BB over 89.1 innings through 16 starts. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at Boston. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:17 pm
