Paul Skenes flashed his dominance in Wednesday afternoon’s victory over the Tigers, piling up nine strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The 22-year-old right-hander scattered just three hits and one walk on the day. The Tigers scratched out a run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly, then Matt Vierling crushed a solo homer in the sixth inning, but that was really the extent of the Tigers’ offense against him. Skenes generated a whopping 19 swinging strikes on 96 pitches in the contest — 11 on his splitter, seven on his fastball and one on his slider — while posting a strong CSW of 32 percent. Brown didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing no hits and two walks across seven scoreless innings. He struck out 10

Advice: Brown was exceptional Tuesday, notching a career high in strikeouts and carrying a perfect game into the fifth inning when he walked Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick. Although Brown has bounced between the rotation and the bullpen this season, he's yielded one hit and four walks with 16 Ks across 11.0 innings during this stint as a starter -- an impressive stretch that could result in Brown sticking in the rotation long term. Ragans (4-4) took the loss Tuesday against Minnesota, allowing three runs on nine hits and a walk across five innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Ragans stranded a runner in all five of his innings pitched and had a difficult time getting through a Twins lineup that featured seven righties and a pair of switch hitters. The southpaw relied heavily on his ability to miss bats, inducing 14 whiffs and generating seven or more strikeouts for the fifth time in his last six starts. Ben Brown pitched seven innings of no-hit ball in the Cubs’ win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

Advice: Brown was excellent in this one. The righty needed just 41 pitches to get through the first four innings and struck out six of the first 12 batters he faced to start the game. His two walks allowed were his lone blemishes on the evening, but Brown has now allowed just two hits in his last 13 innings pitched while boasting a 19/5 K/BB ratio. Brown lowered his ERA to 2.72 on the season but was robbed of his second win after Hector Neris blew a save opportunity in the ninth. Cole Ragans allowed nine hits and three earned runs over five innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Twins.

Advice: Ragans ran into trouble in the first inning when he allowed back-to-back hits to his first two batters faced, only to see both players score on a Jose Miranda single a few batters later. Ragans would allow another run in the fourth on a Manuel Margot double, as the left was hit around for much of the evening. His nine hits allowed tied for the second-most he’s allowed on the season, as Ragans has struggled at times to limit base runners despite a solid 3.49 ERA.
