    • CJ Abrams on base three times Sunday
CJ Abrams went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base on Sunday against the Rays.

Advice: The Nationals offense was quiet in this one despite Abrams’ knack for getting on base. This was the second time in five games Abrams drew multiple walks and his walk total for June got up 11. That’s a welcome sight after he walked just one time the entire month of May. While still inconsistent, there is a lot of development happening for Abrams in a very short period of time. Rotoworld Today, 1:06 pm

    • Launches 12th homer
Cruz went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a strikeout in Sunday's 4-2 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Cruz hit a 452-foot missile off Spencer Schwellenbach in the fifth inning to give the Pirates a lead they wouldn't relinquish. It was the third-longest homer of his career, and it had an exit velocity of 117.3 MPH, which is also the third-hardest of his career. There have been five home runs with exit velocities of 117 or more this season, and Cruz has two of them. The 25-year-old has three long balls over his last seven games, and he's up to 12 homers, 36 RBI, six steals and 36 runs for the season. Rotowire.com Today, 11:56 am

    • Oneil Cruz crushes two-run homer in win over ATL
Oneil Cruz hit a two-run homer Sunday in a 4-2 victory for the Pirates over Atlanta.

Advice: Cruz also singled and walked. The 25-year-old absolutely obliterated a 452-foot shot off Spencer Schwellenbach to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead with Jack Suwinski on base at that time. Cruz continues to frustrate in what is essentially his first full season of MLB action, but games like this one remind that there are very few players in the sport who have as much talent. • Hits leadoff homer Saturday
Abrams went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double, a walk, two total runs and two total RBI in an 8-1 win against the Rays on Saturday.

Advice: Abrams didn't wait long to make his presence felt, swatting a 396-foot homer to lead off the contest. It was the 13th long ball of the campaign for the shortstop, and he's well on pace to surpass the 18 home runs he hit during his first full big-league season last year. Abrams hasn't been as successful as a runner this season -- he's just 13-for-22 in stolen-base attempts after going 47-for-51 in 2023 -- but he's otherwise shown growth in nearly every offensive category, slashing .278/.334/.498 with 20 doubles, five triples, 50 runs and 42 RBI through 328 plate appearances. • Abrams blasts 13th home run vs. Rays Saturday
CJ Abrams went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run, a walk and two RBI against the Rays on Saturday.

Advice: Abrams’ home run was his 13th of the season. He started the game with a home run off Aaron Civale in the first inning. Abrams is hitting .282 with an .852 OPS and 42 RBI on the season.

    • On bench against lefty
Cruz isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game versus Atlanta.

Advice: Cruz and his .351 OPS against left-handed pitchers will retreat to the dugout Saturday as the Pirates prepare to face southpaw Max Fried. Jared Triolo will fill in as Pittsburgh's shortstop and bat seventh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:57 am

    • CJ Abrams in Saturday’s lineup after HBP on Friday
CJ Abrams (wrist) is in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Rays.

Advice: Abrams is back at shortstop and leading off on Saturday after being hit by a pitch twice during Friday’s game -- first on his right arm by an 89 mph cutter in the first inning and then on his left wrist by an 88 mph offering a couple frames later. The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative and the issue didn’t seem to impact the cyst that he’s been dealing with near that left wrist. All indications are that he’s good to go this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:40 am

    • Oneil Cruz absent from Saturday’s lineup vs. Braves
Oneil Cruz is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Braves.

Advice: Despite the presence of lefty Max Fried on the mound for Atlanta in this one, this might be a mental break more than anything for Cruz, who is batting .143 (4-for-28) with two homers and one steal over his last seven games. He’s been mired in an extended funk the past few weeks, hitting .195 (23-for-118) with just four homers and two steals over his last 30 contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:22 am

    • CJ Abrams (hand) checks out fine after HBP Friday
CJ Abrams checked out fine after being hit in the left hand/wrist area by a pitch during Friday’s loss to the Rays.

Advice: Abrams stayed in for the duration of the game, but had X-rays done afterwards just to be on the safe side and they came back negative for any fractures. He should be in his customary leadoff spot in the Nationals’ lineup once again on Saturday. Rotoworld Friday, 6:59 pm
