    • Littell lit up in loss to the Rangers
Zack Littell allowed seven runs on nine hits in four innings in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.

Advice: Littell has been inconsistent in his first season as a starter and now has a 4.44 ERA on the year. His name has been mentioned in trade rumors with the Rays looking like sellers, but it’s also possible that the Rays decide to move Littell back into a long relief role with Jeffrey Springs nearing a return to the MLB rotation. All of that makes Littell a risky bet beyond the All-Star break. Rotoworld Today, 2:26 pm

    • Michael Kopech implodes in loss
Michael Kopech allowed four runs on two hits in 2/3 of an inning in a loss to the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: Kopech was tasked with protecting a one-run lead and was not able to do it. He walked the first batter of the inning, but the Marlins sac bunted with the next hitter and Jazz Chisolm Jr. flew out, so it seemed like Kopech would get out of the inning before he allowed a double to Josh Bell, intentionally walked Jesus Sanchez, and gave up a game-ending home run to Jake Burger. That’s now three straight rough outings for Kopech after he had seemingly gotten things back on track. He now has a 5.45 ERA on the season and should not be on fantasy rosters right now. • Cannon solid in no-decision
Jonathan Cannon allowed one run on three hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Marlins.

Advice: Cannon walked four and struck out three on the day while allowing just one extra-base hit. The 23-year-old didn’t miss many bats on the day with just six whiffs on 33 swings for an 18 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW. He’ll have to hope that’s enough to keep him in the rotation when Mike Clevinger comes back. As of now, Cannon lines up for a strong start against the Pirates next week. He has a 4.20 ERA on the year and has only had one bad performance; it just happened to be one that torpedoed his ratios. Rotoworld Today, 2:01 pm

    • Cabrera solid in first start off IL
Edward Cabrera allowed two runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the White Sox on Sunday.

Advice: This was Cabrera’s first start in over two months, so the abbreviated outing was part of the plan. The right-hander started the game with 3 2/3 shutout innings, striking out four. He then allowed a single and a two-run home run to Danny Mendick, before Marlins’ manager Skip Schumaker decided to remove Cabrera from the game. However, Cabrera was able to induce 14 whiffs on 35 swings for a 40 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW. He also had just a 38 percent zone rate on the day, which will always be part of the issue with the 26-year-old. He has great stuff, but the command is iffy, which makes him a risky streamer. • Kyle Gibson strikes out eight in five innings
Kyle Gibson allowed nine hits and three earned runs across five innings on Sunday against the Nationals. He struck out eight, walked two, and earned the victory.

Advice: Gibson had all his tools working on Sunday as all five of his pitches forced multiple swings-and-misses. The Nationals squeaked plenty of balls through the hole and Gibson weirdly did not receive one out on a fly ball. If he had a little more luck on batted balls he could have gone seven innings in this one. Rotoworld Today, 1:48 pm

    • DJ Herz yanked in fifth inning against Cardinals
DJ Herz allowed four earned runs in 4 1/3 innings on Sunday against the Cardinals. He walked two, struck out four, and took the loss.

Advice: There was a lot to like from this start by Herz despite a rather innocuous box score. He threw his second hardest pitch of the season at 96.0 MPH and missed plenty of bats with his fastball. He also spotted some excellent changeups against right-handed batters. He struggled to command his slider and cutter though and was inefficient as a result. There was also some bad luck involved as the Cardinals’ first rally was spurned by a bloop in front of James Woods that turned into a Nolan Gorman RBI double. Still, Herz is a fun pitcher who could be a tweak or two away from going on a run. Rotoworld Today, 1:47 pm

    • Birdsong can’t escape 5th inning in no decision
Hayden Birdsong allowed two runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Guardians.

Advice: He struck out five and walked two on the day. Birdsong induced 13 whiffs on 44 swings for a 30 percent whiff rate and 27 percent CSW. The four-seamer was unable to get many whiffs and allowed a fair amount of hard contact, which put a good deal of stress on his off-speed pitches on Sunday. Still, he looked good apart from a tough start to the fourth inning and then an infield single and two-out walk which ended his day in the fifth inning. The rookie has been inconsistent so far in his MLB career and is a risky streamer next week against the Twins. Rotoworld Today, 1:43 pm
    • Carlos Carrasco fine in no decision
Carlos Carrasco allowed three runs on six hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Sunday.

Advice: The veteran struck out four and walked one, posting a 30 percent CSW. He didn’t miss many bats with nine whiffs on 43 swings, and he’s certainly a low-upside fantasy play, even against a struggling Rays offense next week. Rotoworld Today, 1:43 pm

    • Tarik Skubal strikes out 13 Reds in win
Tarik Skubal dazzled across seven innings with 13 strikeouts in the Tigers’ 5-1 win over the Reds on Sunday.

Advice: Skubal seems to keep getting better. He forced a season-best 23 swings-and-misses en route to his season-best 13 punch outs and the Reds’ batters were clueless for most of this game. They had a mini rally in the seventh inning, but Skubal navigated through it and maintained the lead. It’s almost an impossible task for opposing hitters to be ready for 99 MPH heat, a quality sinker, an outrageously good changeup, a 92 MPH slider, and a devastating knuckle curve that comes out for special occasions.
