    • No structural damage in knee
Winker said after Friday's game versus Tampa Bay that imaging revealed no structural damage in his right knee, and he's hopeful that he'll be able to play Saturday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: Winker tweaked his knee after his foot got caught in the outfield turf while running down a flyball during the first inning. He had to come out of the game early and was noticeably limping as he walked into the dugout, though it appears he managed to avoid a significant injury. Should Winker have to sit out Saturday's game, Ildemaro Vargas would be a likely candidate to start in left field. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

    • Jesse Winker leaves game with knee issue Friday
Jesse Winker was pulled from Friday night’s contest against the Rays

Advice: The 30-year-old outfielder injured his knee while making a terrific catch in the outfield to end the home half of the first inning. Fortunately, he avoided any structural damage and is hopeful that he’ll be able to return to the Nationals’ lineup on Saturday. For now, he should be considered day-to-day. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • Throws six scoreless innings in win
Eflin (4-5) earned the win against the Nationals on Friday, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out six over six scoreless innings.

Advice: Eflin threw 66 of 93 pitches for strikes and earned his first victory since May 13 and first quality start since May 7. The 30-year-old has now recorded at least six strikeouts over each of his past three outings and has only walked three batters in 28.1 June innings. On the season, Eflin owns a 3.92 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 69:7 K:BB over 87.1 innings and lines up to face the Royals next week. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

    • Max Scherzer wills his way to an effective start
Max Scherzer allowed two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings on Friday against the Orioles. He struck out four and walked two in a loss.

Advice: This version of Scherzer could be effective if he wasn’t pitching against the best lineup in baseball. He stayed around the zone, made hitters feel uncomfortable, mixed all five of his pitches, and got his fastball up to 95 MPH. It isn’t pretty, but there’s still a fierce competitor here with a wide repertoire who knows how to wield it. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
    • Zach Eflin hurls six scoreless in win over Nats
Zach Eflin was terrific in Friday night’s victory over the Nationals, punching out six batters over six innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: Eflin scattered just four hits and one walk on the night. Only once did an opposing hitter advance past second base in the game, and that was Jacob Young who advanced to third on a ground ball after his leadoff double in the third inning and was then thrown out at home on a fielder’s choice. The 30-year-old right-hander generated 11 swings and misses on 93 pitches in the ballgame — five of those on his curveball — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. Eflin will tote a 3.92 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a 69/7 K/BB ratio (87 1/3 innings) into Thursday’s showdown against the Royals in Kansas City. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago

    • Tosses complete-game shutout
Sanchez (6-3) earned the win against the Marlins on Friday, allowing three hits and no walks in a complete-game shutout while striking out nine.

Advice: Sanchez was dominant, allowing only singles and generating 16 swinging strikes on 101 pitches in his first career complete-game shutout. Since June 17, the southpaw has won three straight contests and surrendered just one earned run over 23 innings with an 18:1 K:BB. The 27-year-old owns a 2.41 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 79:24 K:BB through 93.1 innings in 2024 and will look to stay hot against the Cubs next week. Rotowire.com Today, 6:07 pm
    • Cristopher Sánchez records first career shutout
Cristopher Sánchez delivered a dazzling performance against the Marlins on Friday night, racking up nine strikeouts while recording his first career shutout.

Advice: The 27-year-old left-hander scattered just three hits on the night — all of them singles — and didn’t walk a batter. He needed just 101 pitches (73 strikes) to navigate his nine brilliant innings. Sánchez generated 16 swings and misses in the ballgame — eight of those on his changeup — while registering a strong CSW of 34 percent. Now 6-3 on the season, he’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he carries a pristine 2.41 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 79/24 K/BB ratio (93 1/3 innings) into Thursday’s showdown against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. • Early exit Friday
Winker was removed from Friday's game against the Rays with what appears to be a right ankle injury, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Winker sustained the injury running into the wall while tracking down a flyball in the first inning. Though he was able to walk off under his own power, he sported a noticeable limp. Ildemaro Vargas replaced Winker in left field. Rotowire.com Today, 4:20 pm

    • Sitting down against lefty
Pederson isn't in Arizona's lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Pederson will step out of the lineup Friday as the A's prepare to send southpaw JP Sears to the mound. Blaze Alexander will fill in as the Diamondbacks' designated hitter and bat second. Rotowire.com Today, 2:50 pm
