    • Slugs grand slam
Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Friday's 8-5 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Hoskins opened July in an 0-for-13 skid before the grand slam in his second at-bat Friday. The blast gave the Brewers a 5-2 lead, but they mustered just one hit after that. Hoskins is slashing .218/.311/.402 with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 27 runs scored and two stolen bases over 270 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:40 pm

    • Tanner Houck pulled during sloppy fourth inning
Tanner Houck was charged with three runs — one earned — in 3 1/3 innings Friday versus the Yankees.

Advice: Houck lost his command after a brief rain delay interrupted his start tonight, but he still would have gotten through four scoreless if Enmanuel Valdez hadn’t botched a double play ball, resulting in no outs. At the same time, it wasn’t Valdez’s fault that Houck walked three in the inning. On the night, just 33 of his 68 pitches were strikes. It was a second straight rough outing, though at least this one didn’t take a toll on his ERA, which is still fifth in the AL at 2.68. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:58 pm
    • Rhys Hoskins hits grand slam in loss to Dodgers
Rhys Hoskins connected on a grand slam, but the Brewers fell to the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Hoskins took Tyler Glasnow deep with the bases loaded in the fourth to give Milwaukee a 5-2 lead. It also gave Hoskins his 12th homer of the season and brought his RBI total to 57. The power numbers aren’t too shabby. The .218 average leaves an awful lot to be desired. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:45 pm

    • Tanner Houck erratic, pulled in fourth inning
Tanner Houck allowed three runs, one earned, over 3 1/3 innings on Friday against the Yankees. He walked four batters and struck out just one in a no-decision.

Advice: A 45 minute rain delay early in this game made this start a bit wonky. Houck cruised through the first two innings before the storm and lost his touch afterwards. The three runs off him came on a fielder’s choice with an error, walk, and ground out. It’s been a rough few weeks for Houck relative to his early-season prowess, but this outing was more weird than outright bad. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:05 pm
    • Reese Olson racks up eight strikeouts in victory
Reese Olson delivered a dominant performance in Friday night’s victory over the Reds, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: The right-hander piled up eight strikeouts on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. He served up a long solo homer to Spencer Steer in the fifth inning, then the Reds scratched out an unearned run while chasing Olson in the sixth inning. The 24-year-old right-hander generated 16 swings and misses on 88 pitches on the night — nine on his changeup — while posting a strong CSW of 34 percent. Now 3-8 on the season, Olson will carry a 3.22 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and an 89/28 K/BB ratio (95 innings) into his final start of the first half on Wednesday against the Guardians. • Drew Thorpe strikes out five in win over Marlins
Drew Thorpe was terrific in Friday night’s victory over the Marlins in Miami, surrendering just one run on three hits over his 6 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The rookie right-hander punched out five batters on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. He held the Marlins scoreless through the first six frames, but returned for the seventh where he allowed a one-out double to Dane Myers before turning the ball over to the bullpen — and he ultimately scored. Thorpe generated 10 swings and misses on 90 pitches on the night — nine of those on his changeup — while posting an underwhelming CSW of 21 percent. He’ll see if he can replicate this success as he carries a 3-1 record, 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and an 18/14 K/BB ratio (26 2/3 innings) into his final start of the first half on Wednesday against the Twins. • Monster performance in win
Reynolds went 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBI and three runs scored in a 14-2 win over the Mets on Friday.

Advice: Reynolds gave the Pirates the lead on a two-run home run in the fifth inning, then broke things open with a grand slam in the seventh. He hit .330 with six homers in June and has carried his power stroke into July with three long balls and eight RBI through four games. On the year, the outfielder is hitting .280 with 16 home runs, 54 RBI, 39 runs scored and five steals over 390 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:56 pm

    • Bryan Reynolds homers from both sides of plate
Bryan Reynolds went 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBI, and two runs scored on Friday against the Mets.

Advice: Reynolds was all over the Mets in this one. His two-run homer in the fifth inning pulled the Pirates ahead and his seventh inning grand slam broke this game open. It was the second time in his career he’s homered from both sides of the plate in the same game and he pulled his OPS up to .831 with 16 homers and 54 RBI. He is a perpetually underrated stud. • Bryan Woo (hamstring) to make rehab start Saturday
Bryan Woo (hamsting) will make a minor league rehab start at High-A Everett on Saturday.

Advice: The Mariners are hopeful that he’ll be able to throw around 45-50 pitches in the ballgame. Woo also participated in pitcher’s fielding practice without issue on Friday. He won’t be ready to rejoin the Mariners’ rotation next week, but it sounds like he could be ready to go immediately following the All-Star break. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:49 pm
