    • Emmanuel Clase collects save in All-Star Game
Emmanuel Clase fired a scoreless ninth inning to collect the save during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field.

Advice: Clase was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the final frame of the Midsummer Classic and needed just 13 pitches (11 strikes) to preserve the victory. The hard-throwing 26-year-old right-hander made quite a statement in his third straight All-Star Game appearance, striking out Pete Alonso to open the frame before retiring Elly De La Cruz on a ground out to second base. Padres rookie Jackson Merrill managed to get on-base with an infield single before he struck out Bryan Reynolds to slam the door. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:54 pm
    • Stays hot on basepaths
Thomas went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder is sprinting into the All-Star break. While Thomas' homer drought stands at 23 games, he's reached base safely in all 14 games in July, slashing .298/.375/.351 for the month with three doubles, four RBI, six runs and six of his 23 steals on the season. • Swings off tee Sunday
Jung (wrist) said he took 15 swings with a regular bat off a tee Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: According to Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News, Jung admitted that he's not certain of his next step, but the 26-year-old plans to continue swinging the bat over the All-Star break this week. If Jung incurs no setbacks with his surgically repaired right wrist while doing so, the Rangers could then map out a minor-league rehab assignment coming out of the break. Jung previously appeared in four rehab games in June and looked to be on the cusp of returning from the 60-day injured list before experiencing inflammation in his wrist and having his activation date pushed back. • Launches grand slam
Gelof went 1-for-5 with a grand slam Sunday against the Phillies.

Advice: Gelof's ninth-inning grand slam was the eighth and final long ball of the day for Oakland and put a rubber stamp on an 18-run outburst for the A's. It was the second consecutive game with a homer for Gelof, who has now hit seven over the past 23 games and is up to 12 on the season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 11:25 pm

    • Carries Texas to win
Smith went 2-for-4 with two two-run home runs during Sunday's 4-2 win over the Astros.

Advice: As a team, the Rangers logged only three hits Sunday. Two of those came off Smith's bat, and each wound up in the stands for the 26-year-old's first career multi-homer game. During his last 11 games, Smith is batting 13-for-40 (.325) with three homers, seven runs scored, eight RBI and a stolen base. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:21 pm

    • Camilo Doval gives up two runs, takes blown save
Camilo Doval gave up two runs while getting just one out in the ninth to take his fourth blown save Sunday against the Twins.

Advice: Doval has been shaky throughout, though he did come into this one having allowed just one run in his previous nine innings. Today, he faced four batters and retired only one of them, allowing one walk and then a pair of doubles. The rough showing leaves him 17-for-21 in save opportunities and with a 4.38 ERA. His closer’s role has to be in some jeopardy, given that the Giants have plenty of solid alternatives. He certainly can’t afford to blow another save chance right away after the break. • Blows save Sunday
Doval allowed two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one over one-third of an inning, taking a blown save in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Twins.

Advice: Doval's poor performance didn't stop the Giants from winning, but it made things a bit hairy in the ninth inning. The closer had gone five scoreless innings since his last blown save June 28, though he continues to put too many batters on base. For the season, Doval has a 4.38 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 49:24 K:BB over 37 innings while going 17-for-21 in save chances. If manager Bob Melvin changes his approach to the closer job, Doval could lose some of his save share to Ryan Walker or Tyler Rogers. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:47 pm

    • Josh Smith carries Rangers with two home runs
Josh Smith went 2-for-4 with two two-run homers in a 4-2 win over the Astros.

Advice: Smith was the Rangers’ offense in this one. His first inning home run produced their only runs, only hard-hit ball, and one of just two hits in total off Astros’ starter Ronel Blanco. Then his eighth inning long ball gave Texas their only insurance. Smith has been one of the surprise performers of the first half with 10 homers, five stolen bases, and an .861 OPS. • Hinds has first hitless MLB game
Rece Hinds went 0-for-4 on Sunday in a loss to the Marlins.

Advice: It’s Hinds’ first hitless appearance since being called up on July 8th. While Hinds’ start has been nothing short of spectacular, it should be noted that he was hitting just .216 in 77 games at Triple-A this season with a 38.4 percent strikeout rate. He also had a 33 percent strikeout rate in 109 games at Double-A last season and is a career .244 hitter in the minor leagues. He can certainly be added in fantasy leagues due to his performance so far with the Reds, but there’s not a lot that suggests he will produce at a level that will keep him in the Reds’ lineup long-term.
