      Chris Bassitt struck out seven and allowed one run over eight innings on Friday in a no-decision against the Atletics.

      Advice: Bassit was forced to settle for a no-decision against his former organization in an impressive outing at pitcher-friendly Oakland Coliseum. He gave up only four hits and a pair of walks with a run-scoring ground out from JJ Bleday in the sixth-inning representing the lone tally against him in this one. He generated 15 swinging strikes and finished with a 29 percent CSW. It was a performance that should’ve resulted in a victory, but Toronto’s lineup was only able to muster one run on five hits in a low-scoring tractor pull.     • Clubs homer in loss
      Pillar went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-1 loss to the Astros.

      Advice: Pillar had gone 1-for-10 over his first four games in June before this multi-hit effort. His second-inning homer was all the Angels could put up against Framber Valdez, who pitched a complete game. Pillar is up to seven homers, 26 RBI, 17 runs scored and a .324/.379/.590 slash line over 117 plate appearances between the Angels and the White Sox this season. Despite his strong numbers recently, he's been on the bench for two of the last five games, which suggests Pillar doesn't have a full-time role against right-handed pitchers.       Bassitt allowed a run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over eight innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Friday.

      Advice: Bassitt tamed one of his former teams, but reliever Chad Green gave up a walk-off hit in the ninth inning. In his longest outing of the year, Bassitt threw 71 of 102 pitches for strikes. He's limited opponents to one run or fewer in five of his 13 starts this season, pitching to a 3.80 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 70:28 K:BB through 73.1 innings.       Advice: Scott entered a tie game in the eighth inning and forced a double play to escape the first-and-third jam he inherited. He then struck out two in the ninth inning before Miami walked it off in the bottom of the frame. After some early season struggles, Scott has now gone 18 straight innings without allowing an earned run. His season ERA has fallen to 1.40 with a 27:19 K:BB through 25.2 innings.       Tanner Scott pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings and notched a win in relief Friday against the Guardians.

      Advice: Scott came into a tie game in the eighth and stayed in to finish after the Marlins took a one-run lead. It’s his fifth win of the year, all coming since Apr. 30.     • Kimbrel picks up 14th save Friday
      Craig Kimbrel tossed a clean ninth inning and picked up the save against the Rays on Friday.

      Advice: The save was Kimbrel’s 14th of the season and came on the heels of him taking the loss in his last appearance against the Blue Jays on Wednesday. That wasn’t a save opportunity, though.       Diaz (shoulder) said after his rehab appearance with High-A Brooklyn on Thursday that he will get one more rehab outing Sunday before being activated from the 15-day injured list on Wednesday or Thursday, SNY reports.

      Advice: Diaz allowed one hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning for Brooklyn in his first rehab appearance. The reliever was pleased with his performance, saying after the game that his fastball had "new life" and his slider felt "great."       Edwin Díaz (shoulder) struck out two in a scoreless inning on Thursday in a minor league rehab appearance for High-A Brooklyn.

      Advice: Díaz threw 14 pitches (11 strikes) and was reportedly touching 98 mph on his heater in his first rehab outing as he works his way back from a right shoulder impingement that sent him to the injured list back in late May.
