    • Huge day at plate
Happ went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and six RBI during Thursday's 10-2 win against the Phillies.

Advice: Happ blasted his 12th dinger in the fourth with a three-run blast from the right side of the plate that put the Cubs on the board, then turned around and repeated the feat from the left side of the plate in the fifth. It was the second multi-homer game of the season for Happ while the six RBI represent a season high. Happ, who entered the day batting 6-for-38 (.158) over the last 12 games, raised his season average from .227 to .238 with 13 homers, 20 doubles, 50 RBI, 47 runs and seven steals. • Yandy Díaz gets rare day off Thursday vs. Royals
Yandy Díaz is not in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Royals.

Advice: It appears to be a routine off day for Díaz, who is rarely out of Tampa Bay’s lineup. It’ll be Isaac Paredes moving over to cover first base in his absence on the Fourth of July in Kansas City. Rotoworld Today, 2:31 pm

    • Idle Thursday
Diaz isn't in the Rays' lineup Thursday versus the Royals.

Advice: Diaz is getting an off day Thursday after going 1-for-9 in the first two games of the series versus the Royals. This is the first baseman's first absence from the lineup since May 25. Isaac Paredes will shift over from third to first and Jose Caballero will enter the lineup at third in the ninth spot. Rotowire.com Today, 2:27 pm

    • Ian Happ hits two three-run homers in rout
Ian Happ went 4-for-4 and hit a pair of three-run homers as the Cubs crushed the Phillies 10-2 on Thursday.

Advice: One of Happ’s remaining hits was a double, giving him 11 total bases in four plate appearances. Unfortunately, he was on deck when the bottom of the eighth ended, denying him a chance to add on. Happ has seven homers in his last 18 games after totaling just six in his first 64. He’s added about 100 points of OPS in three weeks and is currently at .238/.351/.448 for the year. Rotoworld Today, 1:58 pm

    • Sitting Thursday
Garcia isn't in the Royals' lineup Thursday against the Rays.

Advice: Garcia will get a day to rest Thursday after going 1-for-7 with a walk and a run scored through the first two games of the series. His absence will move Michael Massey into second base while Vinnie Pasquantino serves as the DH, putting Salvador Perez at first with Freddy Fermin behind the plate. Rotowire.com Today, 1:12 pm

    • Josh Hader works around hit to pick up save
Josh Hader allowed a hit but no runs while picking up a save Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hader gave up the hit, but worked around it while picking up his 14th save for the surging Astros. The left-hander needed just nine pitches to get through the inning, and six of those went for strikes. There’s every reason to believe Hader will be one of the best closers in baseball during the second half of the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Today, 12:52 pm

    • Chris Bassitt allows four to Astros over five
Chris Bassitt went five innings while allowing four runs in a loss to the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Bassitt, 35, gave up eight hits, walked four and struck out three. Most of the damage was done early, as he gave up three runs in the first inning before settling down. The right-hander had allowed just three total earned runs over his last two starts, so it goes without saying this outing — while not horrific — didn’t keep that good run going. His final start before the break is scheduled Wednesday against the Giants in San Francisco. Rotoworld Today, 12:52 pm

    • Bo Bichette scratched Thursday with forearm bruise
Bo Bichette was scratched from Thursday’s lineup due to a right forearm contusion.

Advice: It’ll be Leo Jimenez making his big-league debut at shortstop on Thursday against the Astros in his absence. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Today, 11:57 am

    • Return before break not ruled out
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Thursday that Realmuto (knee) is working out at 70-to-75 percent intensity, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Advice: Realmuto is three weeks removed from right meniscus surgery and is progressing nicely. The club is not ruling out a return for their starting catcher prior to the All-Star break if he proves to be ready by then, but it's probably more likely that Realmuto is held out until the start of the second half.
