    • Strikes out six in loss
Abbott (1-2) took the loss against the Mariners on Wednesday, surrendering two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings.

Advice: Abbott was efficient for most of the afternoon, with the exception of the hanging four-seamers he left out over the plate for Cal Raleigh in the second inning, and Mitch Garver in the sixth, both of which would end up in the outfield stands. The young lefty hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his first four starts to open the season and actually fanned a season-high six batters Wednesday, though the two home runs he allowed also marked a season high. Furthermore, Abbott has now gone at least six innings in each of his last two starts and still carries a clean 2.70 ERA following the loss. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago
    • Takes first loss
Pfaadt (1-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits over seven innings in a loss to the Cubs on Wednesday while striking out six.

Advice: Pfaadt kept Chicago's offense at bay over the first four innings, allowing just two singles over that stretch. However, he ran into some trouble in the fifth after Nico Hoerner reached base in the leadoff at-bat following a fielding error from Eugenio Suarez. The right-hander would only be charged for one of the two runs that came home in the frame, though he would go on to allow another run in the sixth, this time via a solo homer off the bat of Cody Bellinger. Pfaadt has now allowed at least two earned runs in each of his last three starts and has also surrendered six or more hits in each of those outings. On a positive note, he's also posted a 17:3 K:BB over that stretch. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago
    • Strikes out six in no-decision
Skubal allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits across 6.1 innings and did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Rangers. He walked one and struck out six.

Advice: Skubal has now given up two earned runs or fewer in three of his four starts this season, which has allowed him to post a stellar 2.28 ERA. The lefty also has 26 strikeouts across 23.2 innings, and his overall body of work makes him a very strong fantasy asset moving forward. Skubal is projected to take the mound again on Monday against the Rays, and he should be locked into lineups no matter the opponent, as he appears to be fairly matchup-proof at this point. • Andrew Abbott strikes out six in tough-luck loss
Andrew Abbott pitched well in a tough-luck loss against the Mariners on Wednesday afternoon, racking up six strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The 24-year-old left-hander scattered four hits while walking three batters on the evening. All of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Cal Raleigh crushing a solo homer in the second inning and Mitch Garver adding a solo shot in the sixth. Aside from those two mistakes, he was terrific. Abbott got seven swings and misses on 104 pitches in the contest — four on his heater — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to extend his dominance as he carries a 2.70 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 17/7 K/BB ratio (23 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s showdown against the Phillies. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:15 pm
    • Brandon Pfaadt logs quality start in loss
Brandon Pfaadt logged a quality start in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Cubs, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits over seven strong innings of work.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander piled up six strikeouts on the afternoon and didn’t issue a base on balls. He kept the Cubs off the board until the fifth inning, where Mike Tauchman delivered an RBI double after Nico Hoerner had reached on an error, then Yan Gomes followed with a run-scoring single. He also served up a solo homer to Cody Bellinger in the sixth inning. Pfaadt got eight swings and misses on 94 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 30 percent. Now 1-1 on the season, he’ll bring a 5.32 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 23/3 K/BB ratio (23 2/3 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Cardinals in St. Louis. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:16 pm
    • Tarik Skubal pitches into seventh in no-decision
Tarik Skubal was uninvolved in the decision after allowing four runs — two earned — in 6 1/3 innings Wednesday against the Rangers.

Advice: He struck out six and walked one. Skubal was fortunate that a pair of flyballs that would have been homers in the majority of ballparks turned into a double and an out in Comerica. He has a 2.28 ERA and a 26/5 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 innings in his four starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:23 pm
    • Used before ninth inning Tuesday
Munoz recorded his third hold in a win over the Reds on Tuesday, firing 1.1 scoreless innings during which he allowed a hit and a walk while recording three strikeouts.

Advice: Munoz relieved Logan Gilbert with two outs in the seventh inning and a man on, and after issuing a walk to Elly De La Cruz, he surrendered a hit to Nick Martini but was bailed out when De La Cruz was thrown out at third base on a stellar outfield assist by Julio Rodriguez. Munoz was exponentially more effective in the eighth inning while recording swinging strikeouts on all three batters he faced to preserve Seattle's 3-1 lead, and he then saw Ryne Stanek entrusted with the ninth inning until he worked himself into trouble and was bailed out by Tayler Saucedo. The Mariners' closer role therefore appears to be somewhat in flux, but Munoz does have four straight scoreless appearances during which he's picked up his most recent save, a win and back-to-back holds. • Delivers go-ahead grand slam
Happ went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and two additional runs scored during Tuesday's 12-11 extra-inning loss to Arizona.

Advice: Happ's first homer of 2024 came in crunch time, as the seventh-inning homer put the Cubs ahead by three runs. It was Happ's second game of the season with three or more hits while his three runs scored marked a season high. Tuesday's contest also snapped Happ's slump, as he entered the game 1-for-20 (.050) over his previous five games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:16 am

    • Day off Wednesday
Conforto is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Miami, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Southpaw Trevor Rogers will take the hill for the Marlins, so the left-handed-hitting Conforto will get a day off. Tyler Fitzgerald will get the start in left field for the Giants. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:55 am
