    • Fernando Tatis Jr. homers in loss to Blue Jays
Fernando Tatis Jr. homered and walked in a loss Friday to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Tatis Jr. was responsible for the only run of the game for the Padres with a solo homer off Yariel Rodriguez. It gives Tatis Jr. six homers on the young campaign, but the first since last Friday. Even with a mini-power drought, the 25-year-old has looked outstanding in 2024, and reminded fantasy managers that he’s as talented as any outfielder — or any other hitter regardless of position — in the sport. • Notches save Friday
Foley issued a walk and struck out one batter in a scoreless inning Friday. He earned a save in the win over Minnesota.

Advice: Foley worked around a two-out walk to finish off the 5-4 win Friday. He's now converted all six of his save chances and is riding a 10-inning scoreless streak to open the 2024 campaign. The 28-year-old has produced a 10:6 K:BB during that span. However, four of those walks have come over his last 2.2 frames. Rotowire.com Today, 8:02 pm
    • Jason Foley slams door on Twins on Friday night
Jason Foley slammed the door on the Twins on Friday night, protecting a one-run lead to secure his sixth save of the season.

Advice: The hard-throwing right-hander came on with a one-run lead to protect and responded by striking out Byron Buxton and getting Carlos Santana to ground out to first base. He did allow a two-out walk to Willi Castro — who then stole second base — but battled back to get Christian Vazquez to fly out to left field to end the game. Foley has been outstanding on the season — registering a pristine 0.00 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and a 10/6 K/BB ratio (10 innings) to go along with a pair of victories and six saves. Rotoworld Today, 7:57 pm
    • Homer, three steals in win
De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, three stolen bases and an additional run scored in Friday's 8-1 victory over the Angels.

Advice: De La Cruz turned a two-out single into the Reds' first run in the second inning, stealing second base before swiping third and scoring on an errant throw. The 22-year-old shortstop would add a third stolen base in the fourth before breaking the game open with a three-run homer off Jose Cisnero in the eighth. De La Cruz has lived up to expectations early this year -- he's now slashing .290/.364/.638 with six homers, 18 runs scored and 14 RBI while going 10-for-12 in stolen base attempts. • Clay Holmes escapes with save on Friday night
Clay Holmes walked the tightrope in the ninth inning on Friday night, but managed to slam the door on the Rays to protect a two-run lead and earn his eighth save of the season.

Advice: Holmes started his frame by allowing back-to-back singles to Ben Rortvedt and Yandy Diaz to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. He then got Randy Arozarena to hit into a strange fielder’s choice where the umpire had ruled that Aaron Judge caught his pop fly in the outfield, which led Rortvedt to head back to second base — and he was ultimately thrown out at third as the ball dropped in. Holmes then got Richie Palacios to line into a game-ending double play to escape with the lead intact. He has been terrific so far this season, compiling a 1.29 WHIP and 6/1 K/BB ratio over 9 1/3 innings of shutout baseball to go along with a win and eight saves. Rotoworld Today, 6:56 pm

    • Elly De La Cruz homers, steals three bases
Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and three stolen bases Friday against the Angels.

Advice: The astonishing thing isn’t that De La Cruz has six homers and 10 steals already; that was always a possibility. No, what’s stunning is that he’s still batting sixth! Reds manager David Bell hit him second all spring, surprised everyone by dropping him to sixth on Opening Day and has since refused to budge, even though De La Cruz has been the Reds’ best hitter in batting .290/.364/.638. De La Cruz will surely slump at some point, but this is a whole lot of fun right now. Rotoworld Today, 6:12 pm

    • Dansby Swanson leads Cubs past Marlins on Friday
Dansby Swanson singled, doubled, scored twice, drove in a run and drew a walk on Friday afternoon, helping to lead the Cubs to an 8-3 victory over the visiting Marlins.

Advice: The 30-year-old shortstop delivered a two-out, run-scoring double off of A.J. Puk in the first inning that extended the Cubs’ early lead to 2-0. He then worked a walk in the third inning and scored on a two-run double by Miguel Amaya. Swanson also smacked a leadoff single to start the fifth inning and came around to score on an RBI knock off the bat of Mike Tauchman. With his two-hit day, Swanson is now slashing .254/.325/.408 to go along with two homers, eight RBI and a pair of stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Today, 5:03 pm

    • Jhoan Duran (oblique) throws live bullpen session
Jhoan Duran (oblique) threw a successful live bullpen session on Friday in Minnesota.

Advice: Duran is close to being sent out on a minor league rehab assignment, and could go out before the weekend is through if he wakes up feeling good on Saturday. The 26-year-old stopper has a chance to make his triumphant return to the Twins bullpen before the month of April is through. Rotoworld Today, 4:01 pm

    • Throws BP session Friday
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Friday that Duran (oblique) threw a 21-pitch bullpen session and felt no discomfort, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Duran was supposed to throw 20 pitches Friday, but Baldelli noted that the right-hander "wanted an extra one, so that tells you he's feeling good." It's another positive step for Duran, and he appears close to starting his rehab assignment. He started the season on the 15-day IL due to a right oblique strain he sustained in spring training.
