    • Picks up sixth win
Marsh (6-5) earned the win Friday against the Guardians, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: After yielding 10 runs across 8.2 innings his previous two starts, the 26-year-old looked solid in this 91-pitch outing. The only blemish on Marsh's evening was a solo homer allowed to Jose Ramirez in the first inning. The Kansas City right-hander lowered his season ERA to 4.19 en route to his first win since June 8 against Seattle. Marsh is currently slated to make his next start at home versus Tampa Bay. • Nick Pivetta tagged for five runs by Padres
Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs in four-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Padres.

Advice: Pivetta pitched four scoreless innings, striking out four, before giving up four straight hits and a walk to begin the fifth. He was pulled at that point, and the Padres ended up scoring nine times in the frame. Pivetta has allowed 15 earned runs over 19 1/3 innings in his last four starts, taking his season ERA from 3.40 to 4.52. We would say he’s droppable in mixed leagues at this point, but since he faces the Marlins in Miami next time out, it’s probably worth giving him one more chance. Rotoworld Friday, 7:22 pm

    • Solid in loss
Tyler (0-1) took the loss against the Phillies on Friday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

Advice: Tyler opened with four scoreless innings but put runners on the corners with no outs in the fifth. He was able to limit the damage to one run and was pulled with one out to go in the frame after 81 pitches, in part because the Phillies were without Bryce Harper (hamstring) and Kyle Schwarber (groin). Tyler has now allowed three total earned runs with a 6:5 K:BB over 8.2 innings in his first two major-league starts. The 27-year-old likely earned another start next week against the Red Sox. • Kyle Tyler pitches well in loss to Phillies Friday
Kyle Tyler pitched well in a losing effort against the Phillies on Friday, giving up just one run on four hits over his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander issued a pair of walks while punching out four batters on the evening. The lone tally against him came as Bryson Stott bounced into a fielder’s choice in the fifth inning — the final batter that Tyler would face. He got nine swings and misses on 81 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of 20 percent. Tyler will carry a 3.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 7/5 K/BB ratio (10 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Red Sox. Rotoworld Friday, 5:42 pm

    • Picking up another start
Tyler is slated to start Friday's game in Philadelphia.

Advice: He'll receive a second straight turn through the Miami rotation after he took a no-decision his last time out Sunday against the Mariners, covering four innings and striking out two while giving up two runs on three hits and three walks. With injuries having hit the Miami pitching staff hard, Tyler could be in store for additional starts beyond Friday, even if he continues to underwhelm. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:57 am

    • Cubs put Javier Assad on IL with forearm strain
Cubs placed RHP Javier Assad on the 15-day injured list with a right forearm strain.

Advice: Assad struggled on Sunday in a loss to the Mets and also failed to record a single strikeout. Now we might know why. The Cubs haven’t issued a timeline for Assad’s injury, but forearm strains can often be a precursor to bigger injuries, so the team is liable to be careful with the right-hander. We should find out in the coming days just how long Assad will be out and who the Cubs will call up to replace him in the rotation. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:28 am

    • Hits IL with strained forearm
The Cubs placed Assad on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right forearm extensor strain, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: The injury has evidently been an issue for Assad off and on for about two weeks, per Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune, which could help explain why he's stumbled in June with a 5.49 ERA after entering the month with a 2.27 mark. With Assad slated to miss at least two turns, Hayden Wesneski is likely to remain in the Cubs' rotation for a while. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:13 am

    • Records three-inning save
Houser picked up a save in the Mets' 12-2 win over the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out three batters over three scoreless innings.

Advice: Houser entered with the Mets holding an eight-run lead and cruised the remainder of the way to notch the first save of his career. The right-hander threw 44 pitches in the outing, and he's tossed at least two frames in all but one of his eight appearances since returning to the bullpen May 26. Houser has thrived since making that transition, allowing just three earned runs across 20.2 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:52 pm

    • DL Hall gets through 2 2/3 scoreless in rehab
DL Hall pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings in his latest rehab appearance with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Advice: Hall, on the IL since late April with a sprained left knee, allowed four hits, walked one and struck out none, so a dominant performance this was not. Hall’s 46 pitches were his high total in four appearances since he restarted his rehab assignment on June 13. At this rate, he might be optioned to the minors instead of rejoining the major league roster when his rehab assignment concludes. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:50 am
