    • Extremely efficient versus Yankees
      Crawford (5-7) earned the win Sunday against the Yankees after tossing seven shutout innings while allowing just four hits. He struck out four.

      Advice: Crawford was incredibly efficient Sunday night, needing just 68 pitches to coast through seven frames while throwing 54 strikes. Crawford's never pitched into the eighth before, and while he certainly could've based on pitch count, manager Alex Cora decided to turn to the bullpen for the final six outs. Crawford contributed to shutting out the Yankees offense for the first time since April and now owns an 11:0 K:BB over his last 13 innings after back-to-back starts without issuing a walk. The 28-year-old now owns a 3.24 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 106:28 K:BB in 105.2 innings and will look to finish out the first half strong as he prepares to face the Royals at home in a weekend series.     • Kutter Crawford goes seven scoreless to beat Yanks
      Kutter Crawford delivered a brilliant performance in Sunday night’s victory over the Yankees, scattering four hits over seven scoreless innings of work.

      Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander punched out four batters on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. He needed just 68 pitches (54 strikes) to get through his seven innings. Crawford has never pitched into the eighth inning in his big-league career though, and the Red Sox trusted their bullpen to get the final six outs. Crawford generated nine whiffs on the night while posting an elite CSW of 38 percent. He’ll attempt to finish the first half strong as he carries a stellar 3.24 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 106/28 K/BB ratio (105 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Royals.     • Freddie Freeman one of six Dodgers named All-Stars
      Freddie Freeman was named to his eighth National League All-Star team on Sunday.

      Advice: Freeman is one of six Dodgers to be named to the National League squad. Shohei Ohtani had already been named as the league’s starting designated hitter and Tyler Glasnow was named among the pitchers on Sunday. In addition, Teoscar Hernandez, Will Smith and Mookie Betts were named to the team with Freeman as reserves. Joining them as All-Star reserves announced on Sunday were Elly De La Cruz, CJ Abrams, Ryan McMahon, Jackson Merrill, Heliot Ramos, Bryan Reynolds, Marcell Ozuna, Luis Arraez and Pete Alonso.       Diaz (3-1) got the win during Sunday's 3-2 victory over the Pirates but also blew the save. He did not allow a run on one hit, one walk and one strikeout over 1.1 innings.

      Advice: With the Mets leading 1-0, Diaz entered the game with two outs in the eighth and allowed a walk and the go-ahead hit. After Francisco Lindor gave his team the lead, Diaz came back out and pitched a clean ninth to pick up his third win. The 30-year-old returned from his 10-game suspension on Saturday, and he picked up the save.     • Edwin Díaz blows save, earns win against Pirates
      Edwin Díaz worked 1 1/3 innings on Sunday against the Pirates. He allowed one hit, one walk, struck out one batter, blew the save, and wound up with the win.

      Advice: Back from suspension, Díaz was tasked with a four-out save pitching on back-to-back days. He walked the first batter he saw and allowed both of his inherited runners to score. Then, the Mets grabbed the lead and he came back out to pitch a scoreless ninth inning. Díaz clearly isn’t the same pitcher he was in 2022, but the Mets have absolute trust in him as their closer.     • Flaherty (back) scheduled to start Thursday
      Jack Flaherty (back) is scheduled to start Thursday’s game against the Guardians.

      Advice: Flaherty missed Wednesday’s scheduled start against the Twins because of his back issue. The right-handed hurler will need to avoid setbacks in order to make that next start and Detroit will take the necessary precautions, but it’s obviously a good sign that the 28-year-old is penciled in for the outing.     • Rejoining rotation Thursday
      The Tigers list Flaherty (back) as their scheduled starter for Thursday's game against the Guardians in Detroit, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

      Advice: Flaherty avoided a stint on the injured list when a back issue reared its head coming out of his June 27 start versus the Angels, but he'll end up having missed nearly two weeks while waiting for two pain-killing injections to provide some relief. The Tigers seem confident that the extended rest will help resolve Flaherty's back problems, which also resulted in him missing a turn through the rotation in the first half of June. Back issues aside, Flaherty has been even better than the Tigers could have hoped when they signed him to a one-year, $14 million deal this winter.       Diaz struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to record his eighth save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Pirates.

      Advice: Seeing his first action since serving a 10-game suspension for use of a foreign substance, Diaz hit Oneil Cruz with a pitch to begin the frame but escaped the minor jam by striking out Rowdy Tellez and getting Andrew McCutchen to ground into a double play. Diaz has had a turbulent campaign in his return from a knee injury that cost him the entire 2023 season, but he had been showing signs of turning things around prior to the suspension -- he's allowed only one run in his last six innings with a 7:0 K:BB.     • Takes third loss in quality start
      Lugo (11-3) was tagged with the loss against the Rockies on Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Lugo allowed baserunners in five of his six innings of work but managed to limit the damage to three runs (two earned) as Kansas City's offense struggled to get any momentum going behind him. The right-hander induced 15 swings and misses on the night and has now recorded at least five strikeouts in four consecutive starts. Lugo has also posted a quality start in five straight contests and hasn't given up more than two runs in any of his last five outings.
