The 28-year-old righty got eight whiffs on the night, registering a strong CSW of 34 percent.       Advice: Soriano missed the minimum time on the injured list due to an abdominal infection. He cruised through the Athletics' order the first time, but he had less fortune the second time around, as Brent Rooker hit a solo shot and Lawrence Butler added a three-run home run. Soriano threw just 62 pitches (39 strikes) in the outing, so he may still be building up to full strength. For the year, he's at a 3.77 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 64:29 K:BB through 76.1 innings this year.       Mears (1-4) was tagged with the loss and a blown save after he allowed two runs on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning Tuesday against the Brewers.

      Advice: Mears didn't give up hard contact as the two hits against him were infield singles, but he was unable to get through the frame on 39 pitches. It's the second blown save of the season for the right-hander, who remains without a save but has seven holds to go along with an ugly 6.28 ERA.       Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander walked one while striking out four batters on the evening. He cruised through the first three innings unscathed, allowing just one baserunner as he plunked Max Schuemann with two outs in the third. Things fell apart in the fourth though as Brent Rooker crushed a solo homer and Lawrence Butler added a three-run blast. Soriano got six whiffs on 62 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 31 percent. It wasn't the most appealing quality start, but Flexen has now logged two in his past three outings. The 30-year-old has not recorded a win since May 8 and owns a 5.08 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 63:33 K:BB over 85 innings. He lines up for a road matchup with the Marlins this weekend.       Chad Green allowed one hit in the ninth inning while earning a save in a 7-6 win over the Astros on Tuesday.

      Advice: Green started the inning by allowing a double but then struck out Joey Loperfido and Trey Cabbage before getting Jose Altuve to fly out to end the game. It was just his third save of the season, but the veteran has been tremendous with a 1.37 ERA.       Jeff Hoffman pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his seventh save in Tuesday’s win over the Cubs.

      Advice: The Phillies entered the ninth inning with a comfortable 6-1 lead but saw that lead slip to 6-4 after reliever José Ruiz failed to record an out while allowing a three-run homer to Seiya Suzuki.
