      Advice: Berrios was one out away from recording his 12th quality start of the season, but Daniel Schneemann launched a two-run shot with two outs in the sixth, the only extra-base hit yielded by Berrios. Over his past 10 starts, the 30-year-old has allowed a home run in nine of them, recording a 4.32 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP across 60.1 innings in that span.     • Shohei Ohtani homers twice in Dodgers’ win
      Shohei Ohtani launched his 18th and 19th homers of the year Sunday off the Royals’ Brady Singer in a 3-0 win.

      Advice: The Dodgers’ other run came on the second of back-to-back homers from Freddie Freeman in the sixth. Ohtani’s first homer today was crushed 451 feet to center. Ohtani had been slumping some of late, having come in at .216/.310/.412 in June.     • William Contreras being evaluated for concussion
      Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy said after Sunday’s victory over the Reds that William Contreras is being evaluated for a possible concussion.

      Advice: Contreras took a glancing blow off of his head or neck on the final play of the game as Blake Perkins nailed the potential tying run at the plate to end the ballgame. The 26-year-old backstop remained on the ground for a few minutes afterwards, but ultimately was able to get up under his own power and was able to celebrate with his teammates.     • Being evaluated for concussion
      Contreras is being evaluated for a concussion following Sunday's 5-4 win over the Reds, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Contreras took a shot to the head when he collided with Stuart Fairchild at home plate, applying the tag for the final out of the contest. The catcher was slow to get up, and he'll now undergo some additional testing to determine the severity of the injury. The Brewers will start a three-game series on the road against the Angels on Monday. If Contreras is forced to miss any action, Gary Sanchez would likely take over behind the plate.       Willy Adames went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run against the Reds on Sunday.

    • Berrios allows four in win Sunday
      Jose Berrios allowed four runs in six innings and got the win in the Blue Jays’ 7-4 victory over the Guardians on Sunday.



      Advice: Berrios gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out one. The win was his sixth of the season. Berrios won four out of seven starts in April, but has now won only two of his last eight starts. His ERA is 3.13 on the year, but his xFIP is 4.18. Berrios’ saving grace this year has been his 86 percent left on base percentage. Even on a day where he only left 65 percent of runners on base, he still was a little lucky. In the fifth inning, the Guardians loaded the bases with no outs, but Cleveland only scored two runs on an RBI single by Steven Kwan and a double play by Tyler Freeman. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Guardians on the road next week.

    • Gets ejected Sunday
      Machado was ejected from Sunday's game against the Mets in the sixth inning for arguing balls and strikes. He went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two strikeouts.

      Advice: Padres manager Mike Shildt was also tossed from the game after leaving the dugout to argue with the home plate umpire. Machado slammed his bat in frustration with the called third strike but didn't make any contact with the umpire, so he shouldn't be subject to any further punishment from MLB.       Verlander (neck) played catch Sunday, and manager Joe Espada has left the door open for the right-hander to return to Houston's rotation this week against the White Sox, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Verlander already seems to be feeling better after he was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday due to neck discomfort. If he responds well in the coming days, the three-time Cy Young Award winner could return for a prime matchup in Chicago, though Espada said Verlander's next start is still up in the air.
