      Houck came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Yankees, giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.

      Advice: The right-hander was looking sharp early, but a 38-minute rain delay in the middle of the third inning caused Houck to lose his focus, and he fell apart completely in the fourth. He's winless in his last four starts, stumbling to a 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB through 20 innings over that stretch, but he figures to bounce back in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against Oakland.       Tanner Houck was charged with three runs — one earned — in 3 1/3 innings Friday versus the Yankees.

      Advice: Houck lost his command after a brief rain delay interrupted his start tonight, but he still would have gotten through four scoreless if Enmanuel Valdez hadn’t botched a double play ball, resulting in no outs. At the same time, it wasn’t Valdez’s fault that Houck walked three in the inning. On the night, just 33 of his 68 pitches were strikes.       Gausman (6-8) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out 10 over six innings to take the loss Friday versus the Mariners.

      Advice: Gausman allowed a two-run double to Luke Raley in the third inning, and that was enough to stick him with his fourth loss in five outings. This was his third 10-strikeout game of the year, as well as his third quality start over his last seven games.       Moore went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 win over the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Moore has gone just 2-for-14 with two walks over his last seven games. The versatile 31-year-old continues to offer speed when in the lineup for the Mariners -- he's 14-for-16 on stolen base attempts this season, including a perfect 6-for-6 since the start of June. Getting on base is another story, as he's hitting just .207 with a .315 on-base percentage, eight home runs, 26 RBI, 31 runs scored, 14 doubles and three triples across 72 contests.     • Kevin Gausman fans 10 in loss to Blue Jays
      Kevin Gausman struck out 10 over six innings of two-run baseball, but took a look Friday to the Mariners.

      Advice: Gausman had the swing-and-miss stuff going and took advantage of a lineup that strikes out more than anyone in baseball. The right-hander allowed only a two-run double to Luke Raley in the contest, but unfortunately that was enough to pick up the loss with Luis Castillo holdin the Blue Jays to just one run. It’s still nice to see a strong outing from Gausman considering how mediocre he’s been for the majority of 2024, as his ERA is still a disappointing 4.64 on the campaign.       Tanner Houck allowed three runs, one earned, over 3 1/3 innings on Friday against the Yankees. He walked four batters and struck out just one in a no-decision.

      Advice: A 45 minute rain delay early in this game made this start a bit wonky. Houck cruised through the first two innings before the storm and lost his touch afterwards. The three runs off him came on a fielder’s choice with an error, walk, and ground out.       Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Friday that Paddack (arm) is doing well in his rehab program and is expected to return from the 15-day injured list to start Monday's series opener against the White Sox, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Paddack landed on the IL on June 25 due to right forearm fatigue, a possible side effect of the 28-year-old pitching in a full season for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery in May 2022. After responding well to his recent throwing sessions, Paddack looks like he'll be ready to come off the IL without having made a rehab start before hand.       Nootbaar (oblique) will remain on his rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield for at least a couple more days to work on his timing at the plate, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: The initial expectation was that Nootbaar would rejoin the Cardinals on the road for their weekend series against the Nationals, but he's evidently not satisfied with his swing and will work to fine-tune things for a bit longer.
