• Daulton Varsho (back) remains out of Jays’ lineup
Daulton Varsho (back) was held out of the Blue Jays’ starting lineup once again for Wednesday’s battle against the Red Sox.

Advice: It’s the fourth straight game that the 27-year-old slugger has missed due to the lingering back issue. Eventually, the Jays are going to have to make a decision here if he isn’t ready to return, but for now they’re continuing to take things on a day-to-day basis. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

  • Cal Raleigh lifts Mariners to victory over Rays
Cal Raleigh clobbered a three-run homer on Wednesday, leading the Mariners to a 5-2 victory over the Rays.

Advice: Raleigh put Seattle ahead for good in a low-scoring series finale at Tropicana Field by walloping a gargantuan 422-foot dinger to right field off Rays reliever Shawn Armstrong in the sixth inning. It was his lone hit of the contest, but he also drew a pair of walks as well. The 27-year-old backstop remains a liability in the batting average department, but he’s up to 14 big flies already and is on pace for his second consecutive 30-homer campaign. • Homers, drives in four
Marsh went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run, and four RBI in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Marsh snapped a career-long home run drought in a big way on Wednesday. It was his first home run since April 26th, snapping a streak of 36 games without a blast. Marsh became the first Phillies player to go 4-for-4 or better with four RBI since Maikel Franco in 2016. The 26-year-old is hitting .269/.345/.425 with seven home runs and 31 RBI. • Connor Wong (paternity) expected back on Friday
Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Connor Wong is expected to return from the paternity list on Friday.

Advice: The hard-hitting backstop missed the first half of the week to attend the birth of his child, but expect him to be right back behind the dish for Friday’s series opener against the Padres. The 28-year-old backstop has been a force at the plate this season, slashing .330/.390/.480 with seven homers, 29 RBI and three stolen bases in 223 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 1:17 pm

  • Takes seat after poor game Tuesday
Torres is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Mets.

Advice: For the second game in a row, Torres was held hitless Tuesday in the Yankees' 9-7 loss, leaving him in a 2-for-29 slump at the dish over his last nine games. To make matters worse, Torres committed an error at second base and also didn't run out a grounder at full speed in the eighth inning, with the latter play not escaping manager Aaron Boone's attention, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Boone indicated that Torres is doing OK physically, but the skipper thought a day on the bench could be beneficial for the 27-year-old while he's in the midst of a rough patch. Oswaldo Cabrera will pick up the start at second base in place of Torres. Rotowire.com Today, 1:16 pm

  • Exits rehab game with injury
Mitchell (finger) was removed from Wednesday's rehab game with Triple-A Nashville with an apparent left hamstring injury, Jack Stern of Brewer Fanatic reports.

Advice: Mitchell appeared to grab at the hamstring following a swing in the ninth inning of the contest. He is on a rehab assignment while coming back from a fractured finger and had seemed close to returning, but the hamstring injury could now delay things. Rotowire.com Today, 1:09 pm

  • Leaves with apparent injury
Ortiz was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Rangers in the bottom of the sixth inning with an apparent injury, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. He went hitless in two at-bats before leaving the game.

Advice: Ortiz ran into the tarp while chasing after a pop-up in the top of the sixth, and though he initially stayed in the game, he was lifted in favor of a pinch hitter in the bottom of the frame. It's not clear yet what injury Ortiz might be dealing with, but the Brewers should offer more clarity soon. Rotowire.com Today, 1:03 pm
