    Advice: Poteet's previous appearance this season came as the 27th man in a doubleheader before he was returned to the minors. He dealt with a finger blister before he was called up again, but he was sharp Saturday, throwing 47 of 78 pitches for strikes. Poteet is an option to replace Clarke Schmidt (lat) in the rotation moving forward, and this start bodes well for Poteet's chances of sticking in a starting role.     Poteet (finger) was activated from the minor-league 7-day injured list and called up to start Saturday's contest versus the Giants.

    Advice: Poteet is officially set to make his second major-league start of the season Saturday, replacing Clarke Schmidt (lat) on the mound for the Yankees. The right-handed Poteet last pitched with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 19, allowing three runs over four innings before missing his last outing with a blister. Poteet drew his first start with New York on April 13, tossing six innings of one-run ball while striking out four in a win over the Guardians. It's unclear if the Yankees view Poteet as a long-term replacement for Schmidt, who's expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, but a strong outing Saturday would certainly make that a possibility.     Advice: Poteet draws the starting assignment for Saturday’s showdown against the Giants at Oracle Park.     Advice: The 25-year-old has five hits in the last two games as he solidifies his hold on the starting job at second base for the Marlins. Lopez isn't supplying any power right now, however -- while he's batting .325 (13-for-40) over his last 11 games with three steals, three runs and eight RBI, his last extra-base hit was a double May 18. The 26-year-old outfielder had snapped a 29-game homer drought with his blast Wednesday, and he's suddenly caught fire at the plate, batting .391 (9-for-23) over the last seven contests.     Yankees OF prospect Jasson Domínguez (elbow) went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and also stole a base on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Double-A Somerset.

    Advice: Domínguez has been sizzling-hot at the plate on his rehab assignment with a stratospheric .977 OPS in 12 games between Low-A Tampa and Double-A Somerset. He’s homered three times in his last five contests. It’s unclear how the Yankees plan to proceed once the 21-year-old center fielder is ready to return to New York, but it’s looking like he’s going to force his way into their immediate plans if he keeps tearing the cover off the ball in the minors.     Royals optioned LHP Daniel Lynch IV to Triple-A Omaha.

    Jesús Sánchez homered, doubled twice and walked Friday in leading the Marlins to an 8-2 defeat of the Rangers.

    Advice: Finally. Sánchez increased his extra-base hit total by 50% tonight, going from six to nine. Statcast thinks he’s been one of the league’s unluckiest hitters and his hard-hit rate and strikeout rates are both better than his career norms, so odds are that his .657 OPS will continue to climb.     Cleveland designated Florial for assignment Friday, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

    Advice: With Steven Kwan (hamstring) returning from the 10-day injured list, Florial will be the one removed to open up a spot on the 26-man roster. The 26-year-old outfielder is slashing .173/.264/.367 with 11 RBI across 36 games with Cleveland this year, and his next landing spot will be at Triple-A Columbus if he clears the waiver process.
