• Framber Valdez spins seven strong in win over MIN
Framber Valdez gave up just one hit on two runs while working seven innings to get a win Saturday against the Twins.

Advice: Valdez did issue two walks, but he was able to keep the self-inflicted damage to a low roar while striking out four. The southpaw ha gone seven innings in three of his last five starts, and he hasn’t allowed more than two runs in any of those outings. There have been some clunkers for Valdez in 2024, but the good has mostly outweighed the poor. Rotoworld Today, 5:02 pm

  • Joe Ryan gives up four homers in loss to Astros
Joe Ryan gave up five runs over five innings while picking up a loss to the Astros on Saturday.

Advice: Ryan gave up eight hits, which is not great, and five of those hits left the park, which is worse. The 27-year-old was coming off an outstanding start against the Royals on Monday. This was anything but. He also walked two and struck out four in one of the worst outings of the season for Ryan. Expect better things for the right-hander against Pittsburgh next week. • Hit by comebacker
Suarez was removed from Saturday's game against the Cardinals with a left hand contusion after being struck by a 106.1 MPH comebacker in the second inning, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Suarez didn't allow a baserunner and struck out two hitters over two innings.

Advice: Early reports indicate that Suarez is only dealing with a bruised throwing hand after being hit by a comebacker off the bat of Alec Burleson on Saturday. After Suarez's two perfect innings, Jose Ruiz will take over on the mound. The Phillies will likely continue to evaluate Suarez throughout the evening to ensure that the injury is merely a contusion and nothing long term. Thankfully for Suarez managers, the Phillies have back-to-back days off next week and the ace's next start is scheduled for June 8. Rotowire.com Today, 5:01 pm

  • Delivers another quality start
Crochet didn't factor into the decision in an extra-innings loss to the Brewers on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Crochet's now logged quality starts in five of his last six outings, posting a stellar 1.03 ERA in that span (35 innings). The 24-year-old left-hander continues to provide a bright spot on a rebuilding White Sox team -- Crochet's ERA is down to 3.49 on the year with a 0.93 WHIP and 93 strikeouts, good for second most in the league. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently slated for next week at home against Boston. Rotowire.com Today, 5:00 pm

  • Alec Marsh surrenders five in loss to Padres
Alec Marsh went five innings while allowing five runs in a loss Saturday to the Padres.

Advice: Marsh, 26, dealt with control and command issues in this one, as he allowed seven hits, three walks and threw 49-of-80 pitches for strikes. It makes back-to-back outings where the right-hander has allowed five earned runs, but he pitched much better against Minnesota on Monday than this outing. Marsh gets a chance to rebound next weekend against Seattle in Kansas City. Rotoworld Today, 4:52 pm

  • Randy Vasquez coughs up three runs in victory
Randy Vasquez struck out five while allowing three runs over five innings in a win over the Royals on Saturday.

Advice: Vasquez allowed four hits and one walk. All three runs allowed came on hits by Vinnie Pasquantino, as Pasquaninto hit a two-run homer and RBI single off the right-hander. Outside of that the 25-year-old was relatively effective, and good enough for a win with seven runs of run support. Rotoworld Today, 4:52 pm

  • Falls to San Diego
Marsh (4-3) took the loss Saturday against the Padres, allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Marsh has now dropped back-to-back starts, allowing five runs in each, after posting a 1.71 ERA in his previous five outings (26.1 innings). Overall, his ERA is up to 3.76 on the season with a 1.15 WHIP and 46:17 K:BB across 55 innings. The 25-year-old Marsh will look to get back on track in his next start, currently slated for next week at home versus the Mariners. Rotowire.com Today, 4:43 pm

  • Brooks shelled against Braves on Saturday
Aaron Brooks allowed seven runs in 4 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Athletics’ 11-9 victory over the Braves on Saturday.

Advice: Brooks allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out one. While two of his previous three starts were quality starts, he’s now allowed at least five runs in consecutive starts. Brooks has also allowed at least seven hits in three of his four starts this year. His ERA is now 5.82 on the season. The 34-year-old right-hander is not recommended for his next start against the Blue Jays at home next weekend. Rotoworld Today, 4:31 pm

  • Grabs first win
Vasquez (1-3) earned the win Saturday over the Royals, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out five.

Advice: After allowing a two-run homer to Vinnie Pasquantino in the first inning, Vasquez ultimately settled in and held the Royals to one run over his final four frames to earn the win. It's the first win in six starts for Vasquez this season, who was recalled for a spot start after Joe Musgrove (elbow) was scratched. Overall, the 25-year-old Vasquez sports a 5.74 ERA with a 1.61 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB across 26.2 innings with the Padres this year. He could be in for an extended stay in the rotation with Musgrove joining Yu Darvish (groin) on the IL. Vasquez would currently line up for a home matchup with the Diamondbacks next week.
