    • Jackson Merrill homers in loss to Arizona
Jackson Merrill went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The rookie launched a 394-foot home run in the second inning and also had a 102.4 mph single later in the game. Merrill is more of a contact-oriented hitter, so the exit velocities are nice to see as we dream on his power upside. The 21-year-old is slashing .284/.333/.388 with two home runs and 16 RBI on the year. He’s a better real-life player than a fantasy player, but he has enough tools to be a high-floor fantasy asset, especially if you need batting average. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

    • Takes loss in quality start
Canning (1-4) took the loss Sunday against Cleveland, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Canning kept a clean sheet until the sixth inning when Jose Ramirez launched a two-run home run to cap off a 10-pitch at-bat. The long ball was the first Canning has surrendered in over 20 innings dating back to an April 13 start against Boston. Canning completed six innings for the first time all year, notching a quality start and giving up five or fewer hits for a fourth straight outing. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Royals on Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 4:15 pm

    • Dominates with 12 K's
Skubal did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings against the Yankees. He struck out 12.

Advice: Skubal continues to dominate as the 12 strikeouts were a season high and marked the first double-digit strikeout effort of the campaign for the ace lefty. It was the sixth time in seven games Skubal has allowed two or fewer earned runs, as the outing raised his ERA to 1.90 with a 0.77 WHIP and 53 strikeouts over 42.2 innings. He's tentatively lined up to toe the rubber next weekend when the Astros come to Detroit for a three game set. Rotowire.com Today, 4:12 pm
    • Tarik Skubal strikes out 12 in no-decision
Tarik Skubal pitched well in a no-decision against the Yankees on Sunday afternoon, piling up 12 strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The hard-throwing southpaw allowed six hits on the day and didn’t allow a base on balls. All of the damage done against him came in the first two innings, as Aaron Judge crushed a solo homer in the first and Oswaldo Cabrera added an RBI double in the second. Skubal generated 18 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the day — a whopping 12 of those on his changeup — while posting a ridiculous CSW of 44 percent. Skubal will carry a stellar 1.90 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and a 53/6 K/BB ratio (42 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s showdown against the Astros. Rotoworld Today, 3:05 pm
    • Edouard Julien fans three times in defeat
Edouard Julien struck out all three times he was up before being replaced Sunday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Julien had a great stretch towards the end of last month to push his OPS up to .890, but he’s back down to .795 now after going 1-for-18 with 11 strikeouts in his last seven games. He does have six walks during that span, but he hasn’t scored a single run. It’s going to be tough to justify using him in shallow leagues if he’s a platoon player not hitting for average or stealing many bases. Rotoworld Today, 2:24 pm

    • Griffin Canning turns in first quality start in loss
Griffith Canning took a tough loss after allowing two runs in six innings Sunday against the Guardians.

Advice: It’s his first quality start of the year. Canning had a shutout going into the sixth, when he allowed a single and then a homer to José Ramírez. He allowed only two other hits in the game, both of which were singles, and walked one. Canning now has a 4.64 ERA in his last four starts. That’s still not great or even very good, but it’s a whole lot better than his 9.88 mark from his first three outings. Rotoworld Today, 1:21 pm

    • Sitting against lefty
Muncy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Advice: The 33-year-old launched three homers in Saturday's contest but will still sit Sunday as lefty Max Fried pitches for Atlanta. According to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times, manager Dave Roberts said Muncy's absence was planned prior to Saturday's contest, and the third baseman is expected to play in the next six contests. • Max Muncy gets Sunday off after three-homer game
Max Muncy is not in the starting lineup for the Dodgers on Sunday against Atlanta.

Advice: Muncy’s reward for a three-homer game Saturday vs. Atlanta is a day off against southpaw Max Fried. The 33-year-old slugger will sit with Enrique Hernandez playing third base and hitting fifth against Fried. Rotoworld Today, 10:07 am

    • Anthony Rizzo sitting Sunday vs. Tigers
Anthony Rizzo is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Tigers.

Advice: Rizzo will get a day off a day after hitting a three-run homer. The 34-year-old will get a break with Oswaldo Cabrera getting a start across the diamond at first base and Jon Berti handling third. Rotoworld Today, 7:32 am
