    • Bryce Harper (hamstring) getting closer to return
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said both Bryce Harper (hamstring) and J.T. Realmuto (knee) are running at 75% intensity.

Advice: The Phillies will be home for six games next week and then have the All-Star break, so there’s no reason to rush either Harper or Realmuto, but Thomson said that the Phillies won’t hold either of them back if they’re ready to go before the break. Given the nature of Realmuto’s injury and his age, it’s more likely Harper will return before the break than Realmuto. However, the Phillies have a solid lead in the NL East, so the team could decide to be cautious with both and hold them out for next week. One would assume that if the Phillies don’t bring either Harper or Realmuto back for the early week series against the Dodgers, they will certainly hold them out for the weekend series against the Athletics. • Rockies outright Elehuris Montero to Triple-A
Rockies sent INF Elehuris Montero outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: Montero was designated for assignment last weekend after hitting .205 with a .571 OPS so far this season. With nobody claiming him on waivers, he will return to Triple-A where he hit .359 in 35 games last year with 15 home runs and 48 RBI. He may simply be a good Triple-A hitter who never quite finds his footing at the big league level. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:17 am

    • Optioned to Rochester
The Nationals optioned Meneses to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday.

Advice: Through 313 plate appearances, Meneses has slashed just .231/.291/.306 -- his worst season at the plate in his three-year MLB career -- and he'll now attempt to right the ship in the minors. Meanwhile, the Nationals will likely turn to Harold Ramirez or Ildemaro Vargas to start at first base until Joey Gallo (hamstring) is able to return from the injured list. • Joey Meneses sent to Triple-A
Nationals optioned 1B Joey Meneses to Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: Menses is hitting .235 on the season with three home runs and a 63/21 K/BB ratio in 75 games. He is also coming off a month of June in which he hit just .198; however, he was 4-for-12 in his first three games in July. No corresponding move has been announced and Joey Gallo has yet to start a rehab assignment, so the Nationals could opt to use Jesse Winker at first base in the near future. • Outrighted to Triple-A
Montero cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: Montero was DFA'd by the Rockies on Sunday after slashing .205/.267/.304 over 247 plate appearances, but he'll officially remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Until the 25-year-old is able to turn things around at the plate, he'll serve as organizational depth in the minor leagues. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:37 am

    • Not starting Thursday
Mountcastle isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game versus Seattle.

Advice: Mountcastle went 1-for-4 with an RBI during his first game back from an illness Wednesday, and he'll now get another day to rest against Bryce Miller and the Mariners. Ryan O'Hearn will move to first base as a result, allowing Heston Kjerstad to serve as the DH. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:15 am
    • Nabs fifth steal
Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Goldschmidt's midseason resurgence has continued into July -- he's opened the month with a pair of multi-hit efforts. He's batting .262 with six extra-base hits and two steals over his last 15 contests. The first baseman is at a .230/.297/.368 slash line with 11 home runs, five steals, 12 doubles, 33 RBI and 40 runs scored through 82 games overall, though his recent play is an encouraging sign for the second half. • Doing drills at 70-to-75 percent
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Thursday that Harper (hamstring) is currently able to go through drills at 70-to-75 percent intensity, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Advice: Harper is eligible for activation July 9 as he works his way back from a strained left hamstring. While the Phillies won't hesitate to activate Harper next week if he's ready, they do have the All-Star break looming the following week if they decide to give the first baseman a little more time. • Heading to bench Thursday
Fry is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Fry has a .606 OPS over his past 12 games and will take a seat for Thursday's contest. Jose Ramirez will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Gabriel Arias receives a start at the hot corner. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:40 am
