    • James Wood goes 0-for-4 in loss to Cardinals
James Wood went 0-for-4 and struck out twice on Monday in the Nationals’ shutout loss at the hands of the Cardinals.

Advice: There are going to be plenty of days like this, even for the consensus top prospect in baseball. The 21-year-old slugger has been outstanding since being called up last week from Triple-A Rochester, batting .276 (8-for-29) with one homer, six RBI and one steal through eight games. He projects as a potential five-category fantasy monster in the future, especially if his contact gains over the last few months remain intact, and he’s making an impact already for fantasy managers right away with his impressive power/speed combination. • Mitchell Parker whiffs six in loss to Cardinals
Mitchell Parker struck out six and was charged with two runs (one earned) over seven innings on Monday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Parker gave up six hits, including a fourth-inning solo shot to veteran first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. He generated 11 swinging strikes, including six on his slider alone, and finished with a pedestrian 27 percent CSW. The 24-year-old lefty has emerged as a decent option for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues with a strong 3.44 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 74/19 K/BB ratio across 91 2/3 innings (16 starts). He’ll face off against the Brewers on Saturday to close out the first half. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago
    • Fans six in loss
Parker (5-5) took the loss Monday against the Cardinals, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out six.

Advice: After pitching to a 5.82 ERA across 17 innings over his last three outings, Parker looked much sharper against St. Louis, tossing his sixth quality start of the season. The Washington rookie yielded just one extra-base hit -- a 415-foot solo shot to Paul Goldschmidt in the fourth. Although the 24-year-old southpaw hasn't tallied a win since June 16, he has been a dependable starter overall with a 3.44 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 74:19 K:BB across 91.2 innings. Parker is tentatively scheduled to pitch against the Brewers on the road in his next start this weekend. Rotowire.com 51 minutes ago
    • On base three times Sunday
Wood went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: The 21-year-old rookie is already being pitched around and treated as the most dangerous hitter in the Nationals' lineup, drawing six free passes in his first seven MLB games. Wood is doing damage when he gets his bat on the ball too, batting .320 (8-for-25) with a double, a homer and six RBI while hitting third against right-handed pitching. Rotowire.com Today, 9:56 am
    • Three more hits Sunday
Horwitz went 3-for-5 in Sunday's extra-inning win over the Mariners.

Advice: It's the second time in the last four games Horwitz has banged out three hits. The 26-year-old has been an on-base machine since joining the Blue Jays roster a month ago, slashing .329/.454/.481 with more walks (14) than strikeouts (13) in 97 plate appearance, and he's quickly become a fixture near the top of the batting order against right-handed pitching. • Powers Boston with two homers
Devers went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Yankees.

Advice: With the game tied going into the seventh, Devers broke through with a solo home run the opposite way to put the Red Sox out in front. He then admired a no-doubter 423-foot blast off Michael Tonkin in the ninth to make it a 3-0 ballgame. With his two-homer performance, Devers now has seven long balls in his last 10 games at Yankee Stadium and moved into a tie with David Ortiz for the fifth-most home runs at Yankee Stadium as a visiting player (16). He hasn't just been hot against the Yankees, however. Over his last 11 games, Devers is slashing .405/.479/.976 with seven homers, 16 RBI, 13 runs and a 6:11 BB:K. He's putting together another extremely productive campaign with one more week before the All-Star break and is currently slashing .293/.378/.593 with 21 homers, 55 RBI, 56 runs and a 40:79 BB:K in 336 plate appearances. • Rafael Devers powers Red Sox past Yankees Sunday
Rafael Devers blasted a pair of solo home runs on Sunday night, powering the Red Sox to a 3-0 victory and a series win over the Yankees in New York.

Advice: With the two bitter rivals mired in a scoreless tie heading to the seventh inning, Devers finally broke through as he lined a 2-2 fastball from Luis Gil over the wall in left-center for a 373-foot (103.8 mph EV) solo shot. He then crushed a 423-foot (107.0 mph EV) bomb off of Michael Tonkin in the ninth that made it 3-0. The 27-year-old All-Star third baseman also singled in the ballgame, finishing the night 3-for-4. On the season, he’s now slashing .293/.378/.593 to go along with 21 homers and 55 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:34 pm

    • Picks up seventh win
Gibson (7-3) earned the win Sunday over the Nationals, allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Gibson got through the first five innings surrendering just two runs but allowed the first three hitters to reach in the sixth before getting pulled. The veteran has won three of his last four starts and has had quality starts in four of his last seven outings. The 36-year-old has helped stabilize the Cardinals rotation -- he has a 3.96 ERA and 1.29 WHIP through 97.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:26 pm

    • Kyle Gibson strikes out eight in five innings
Kyle Gibson allowed nine hits and three earned runs across five innings on Sunday against the Nationals. He struck out eight, walked two, and earned the victory.

Advice: Gibson had all his tools working on Sunday as all five of his pitches forced multiple swings-and-misses. The Nationals squeaked plenty of balls through the hole and Gibson weirdly did not receive one out on a fly ball. If he had a little more luck on batted balls he could have gone seven innings in this one. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:48 pm
