Julks is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Julks is on the bench after he started in each of the White Sox's last three games, with the latter two coming against left-handed pitchers. Though he's served as a near-everyday player for much of his time with the White Sox since getting called up from Triple-A Charlotte on May 17, Julks appears set to lose out on regularly playing time moving forward following the recent returns of Andrew Benintendi and Tommy Pham from the injured list. • Shifts to 60-day IL
The Yankees transferred Rizzo (forearm) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: The veteran first baseman is expected to be sidelined eight weeks after he landed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a fractured right forearm, so the move to the 60-day IL doesn't come as a major surprise. Rizzo will be shut down from baseball activities for up to five weeks. Gerrit Cole (elbow) was activated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding transaction and is making his season debut Wednesday against the Orioles. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

    • Heading back to bench
Mendick is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Mendick started at second base in each of the last three games, but the White Sox faced two lefty starters and a lefty primary pitcher in those contests. He'll head back to the bench Wednesday while the lefty-hitting Nicky Lopez steps back in at the keystone against Astros right-hander Hunter Brown. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

    • Activated ahead of start
The Yankees reinstated Cole (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Cole has been on the injured list all season due to nerve irritation in his right elbow, but he will now officially return to the Yankees' rotation and make his season debut Wednesday against the Orioles. The 33-year-old righty was dominant during his three rehab starts, posting a minuscule 0.73 ERA while striking out 19 batters and walking none in 12.1 innings. However, he only built up to 68 pitches during his time in the minors, so he will likely be working under some sort of restriction during his return to a big-league mound. Anthony Rizzo (arm) was transferred to the 60-day IL to make room for Cole on the 40-man roster. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

    • Yankees transfer Anthony Rizzo to 60-day IL
Yankees transferred 1B Anthony Rizzo to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The Yankees needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for the return of Gerrit Cole on Wednesday, and the easiest move was to shift Rizzo to the 60-day IL. The 34-year-old is dealing with a right forearm fracture and is expected to be sidelined for the next two months. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

    • Yankees activate Gerrit Cole for 2024 season debut
Yankees activated RHP Gerrit Cole from the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The 33-year-old hurler is finally ready to make his highly anticipated 2024 season debut against the Orioles on Wednesday. He looked fantastic in three minor league rehab starts, registering a 0.73 ERA, 0.49 WHIP and a 19/1 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings. As long as he’s healthy and on the mound, there’s little reason to expect anything other than vintage Gerrit Cole on Wednesday. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

    • Homers for lone run
Reynolds went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over the Reds.

Advice: Reynolds snapped a scoreless tie with two outs in the eighth inning, launching a Nick Martinez changeup over the centerfield fence to provide the only offense in a 1-0 Pirates win. The 29-year-old Reynolds has been red hot at the plate -- he extended his hit streak to 17 games, going 24-for-70 (.343) with 11 extra-base hits in that span. His slash line is up to .271/.337/.448 on the year with 10 homers, 40 RBI, 30 runs scored and five stolen bases across 332 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

    • Added to lineup
Rortvedt will start at catcher and bat eighth Wednesday against the Twins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Rortvedt was originally slated to receive a day off Wednesday versus Joe Ryan and the Twins, but he will instead replace Alex Jackson behind the dish as a late addition to Tampa Bay's lineup. Rortvedt has slashed .222/.300/.370 with a homer and five RBI across 30 plate appearances since the start of June. Rotowire.com 39 minutes ago
    • Aiming for Saturday return
Arenado (elbow) said after Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins that he expects to return to the lineup Saturday versus the Giants in St. Louis, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Arenado was lifted for a pinch runner in the top of the eighth inning after he took a 94 mile-per-hour sinker to his right elbow in his fourth plate appearance of the afternoon. Before departing, Arenado went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored. Though Arenado has been diagnosed with a bruised right elbow after initial X-rays returned negative, he noted that the pitch hit him in a nerve in the elbow that caused his hand to cramp up. Based on his postgame comments, Arenado already seems to be ruling himself out for Thursday's series opener with the Giants at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala., but he's counting on being ready to go coming out of Friday's off day.
