    • Mark Canha returns to Tigers’ lineup on Friday
Mark Canha (illness) returned to the Tigers’ starting lineup for their series opener against the Astros on Friday night.

Advice: The 35-year-old outfielder missed each of the team’s last two contests due to illness. He’s off to a decent start overall through his first 34 games with the Tigers — hitting .248/.367/.444 with five homers, 16 RBI, one stolen base and a 28/17 K/BB ratio. He’ll serve as the team’s designated hitter and bat third against left-hander Framber Valdez on Friday evening in Motown. Rotoworld Today, 2:32 pm

    • Takes seat against southpaw
Marsh is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: Marsh will avoid a matchup with the left-handed Trevor Rogers on Friday, giving the 26-year-old his first day off since May 1. Cristian Pache will fill the hole at left field. Rotowire.com Today, 12:56 pm

    • Continuing to ramp up
LeMahieu (foot) took batting practice on the Yankee Stadium field Wednesday and will travel with the club on its upcoming road trip to Tampa, per MLB.com.

Advice: In addition to swinging the bat, LeMahieu has also been fielding ground balls as he works his way back from the non-displaced right foot fracture he suffered March 16. By traveling with New York on its next road trip, he'll be able to take live at-bats and do infield work at the team's training complex, which happens to be in Tampa. Manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that the club intends to ramp up LeMahieu's "baseball activities all week" and indicated that the veteran infielder could potentially start a minor-league rehab assignment soon thereafter. • Back in lineup
Canha (illness) is batting third as the Tigers' designated hitter for Friday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Canha has been dealing with an upper respiratory illness and missed a pair of games due to the issue. However, Canha seems to be on the mend, making his first appearance since May 6 and reclaiming his usual DH role. Rotowire.com Today, 11:50 am

    • Homer, three RBI in win
Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Angels.

Advice: Pasquantino jumped on a hanging four-seamer with two outs in the top of the third and crushed it into the stands for his fifth home run of the season, and his first this month. The first baseman would also add a sacrifice fly in the contest, marking the third time in his last five games in which he's tallied multiple RBI. Pasquantino is on an absolute tear right now, registering three multi-hit games in a row, with at least one extra-base hit in each of those performances. He's now batting .429 in May with 11 RBI, six runs scored and six extra-base hits. Rotowire.com Today, 6:34 am
    • Continues power surge
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Cleveland was held scoreless until Ramirez belted a 409-foot solo shot in the eighth inning. The All-Star third baseman has gone deep three times over his past five games, pushing his total to eight homers on the season. He's slashing just .238/.282/.450 but ranks fifth in the majors with 31 RBI while adding 25 runs and five stolen bases. Rotowire.com Today, 12:02 am

    • José Ramírez goes deep in loss to White Sox
José Ramírez slugged a solo homer on Thursday in the Guardians’ loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Ramírez and Josh Naylor went deep off veteran reliever John Brebbia in the eighth inning, but it wasn’t enough to spark Cleveland to a late rally at Guaranteed Rate Field. It was his eighth round-tripper of the season and third time he’s left the yard in his last five contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:04 pm

    • Ippei Mizuhara pleads guilty to multiple charges
Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara is pleading guilty to multiple charges including bank fraud and subscribing to a false tax return, according to the Associated Press.

Advice: Mizuhara has agreed to plead guilty to bank and tax fraud in a case where federal prosecutors allege he stole nearly $17 million from Ohtani to pay off sports gambling debts to an illegal bookmaking operation. Mizuhara will enter his guilty plea in the coming weeks and is set to be arraigned May 14, bringing an end to one of the more bizarre sagas in baseball history. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:05 pm

    • Tagged for eight runs
Gilbert (3-1) took the loss Thursday against the Twins, allowing eight runs on nine hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Five of Minnesota's runs came in the first inning, including three on a Manuel Margot double. Gilbert hadn't allowed more than two earned runs in his previous five starts, recording quality starts in six of his previous seven outings. His ERA went from 1.69 to 2.94 after Thursday with a 0.94 WHIP and 54:15 K:BB across 52 innings. Gilbert will look to get back on track in his next turn in the rotation, currently scheduled for next week against Kansas City. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:42 pm
