    • Brewers officially activate Garrett Mitchell
Brewers activated OF Garrett Mitchell (finger) from the 60-day IL.

Advice: Mitchell was set to be the Brewers’ starting center fielder before fracturing a finger in spring training. In 12 games at Triple-A during his rehab stint, he hit .318 with four home runs and four steals. He has the power/speed to produce solid fantasy results while hitting in a good lineup in a good home park. He should be added in most formats. Tyler Black was sent down in a corresponding move. • Slated for more time at third base
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Taylor will have more of a "runway" to play third base, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Advice: Third base has been a weakness for the Dodgers since Max Muncy landed on the injured list with an oblique injury May 17. The team made a trade in mid-June for Cavan Biggio, but he's struggled to a .188 batting average and 33.3 percent strikeout rate in 12 games with Los Angeles. Taylor had a disastrous start to the campaign -- he was hitting .095 with a 39.2 percent punchout rate over 36 contests through June 6 -- but has turned things around of late, slashing .385/.448/.731 with four extra-base hits (including two homers), four RBI, seven runs and two thefts over his past 11 games. He started at third base Sunday against San Francisco and collected a home run, a double and two RBI, and Roberts has indicated that Taylor will start at the hot corner again in the team's next game (Tuesday versus Arizona), per David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports. If Taylor keeps his momentum going, he could keep the primary third-base job until Muncy returns to action, which likely won't happen until after the All-Star break. Biggio and Enrique Hernandez are the other options to log time at the hot corner for the time being. Rotowire.com Today, 10:59 am

    • Scratched from lineup
Guerrero was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros due to right fourth/fifth finger discomfort, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Guerrero was hit in the right hand by a pitch in the third inning Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees and was ultimately removed from the contest in the bottom of the eighth. While he was initially slated to play Monday in the series opener versus the Astros, some lingering soreness will ultimately prevent him from doing so. X-rays on the hand returned negative, and Guerrero is considered day-to-day. Ernie Clement will enter the lineup as a replacement for Guerrero, manning third base and batting ninth. • Exits 40-man roster
The Brewers designated Miller for assignment Monday.

Advice: The 27-year-old has spent most of his time this season in the minors, having slashed just .185/.185/.222 across 27 plate appearances during his time in the majors in 2024. Miller offers some defensive versatility and has flashed at times offensively, so it's possible he draws some interest via trade or waivers. Rotowire.com Today, 9:47 am

    • Activated from 60-day IL
The Brewers activated Mitchell (finger) from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Mitchell will be making his season debut once he gets into a game after missing the first three months of the season with a fractured finger. He slashed .318/.404/.636 with four home runs and four stolen bases over 12 rehab games with Triple-A Nashville. The 25-year-old will join a crowded Milwaukee outfield that already features Christian Yelich, Blake Perkins, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio. Rotowire.com Today, 9:43 am
    • Cleared for Canada Day start
Guerrero (hand) will start at first base and bat third in Monday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Guerrero was hit in the right hand by a pitch in the third inning of Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees, but he proceeded to stay in the game until he was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the eighth. X-rays on Guerrero's hand came back negative, and his removal from the contest might just have been precautionary while the Blue Jays faced a seven-run deficit at the time of his exit. Even with a quick turnaround for Monday's Canada Day game that begins at 3:07 p.m. ET, the Blue Jays evidently felt comfortable enough with Guerrero's health to insert him back in the lineup. • James Wood officially called up by Nats
Nationals recalled OF James Wood from Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: The move was announced on Friday but is now official. Wood is MLB Pipeline’s 3rd-ranked prospect, behind Jackson Holliday and Junior Caminero, who have both already had a taste of the big leagues. Wood posted a .353/.463/.595 slash line with 10 homers and 10 steals across 52 games this season at Triple-A. Of course, he’s also 21 years old and we saw Holliday struggle against MLB pitching in his first crack at the big leagues, so it’s not a given that Wood will hit the ground running. He will also face three left-handed starters in his first three games which will give fantasy managers and Nationals fans a good chance to see if there will be any platoon issues early on. The Nationals designated Eddie Rosario for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Today, 7:36 am

    • Added to roster ahead of MLB debut
The Nationals selected Wood's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Advice: The top prospect will make his major-league debut Monday against the Mets. Wood earned a promotion after sporting a blistering .353/.463/.595 batting line with 10 home runs, 10 stolen bases and a 42:40 K:BB over 52 games with Rochester. While Wood has experience at all three outfield positions, the Nationals plan to deploy him mainly in left field for the time being. Rotowire.com Today, 6:18 am

    • Homers in loss
Taylor went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's loss to the Giants.

Advice: Taylor put the Dodgers on the board with a solo shot in the fifth inning and later added an RBI double in the seventh. It was his second long ball of the year, and both have come in his last nine games. Taylor didn't have a multi-hit performance through 41 games to start the year but now has two in his last six contests. He's slashing .164/.256/.255 with five extra-base hits and 12 RBI through 126 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:18 pm
