    • Will be in Tuesday's lineup
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said that Carroll (side) will be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Carroll was removed from Sunday's 12-5 win over the White Sox with discomfort in his left side, but an MRI came back clean Monday. Lovullo shed more light on Carroll's injury Tuesday, noting that the outfielder was merely dealing with some cramping. He'll be in action for the series opener in Washington on Tuesday following the team off day Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:06 am
    • Without timeline for return
Carpenter hasn't resumed baseball activities since being diagnosed with a lumbar spine stress fracture in late May, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Carpenter was placed on the 10-day injured list May 29 with lumbar spine inflammation, only for his diagnosis to change a couple days later once he underwent further testing. Three weeks after landing on the shelf, Carpenter remains limited to doing what manager A.J. Hinch described as therapy work, so the 26-year-old still looks to be at least a couple weeks away from being ready for game action. During Carpenter's ongoing absence, Matt Vierling has taken hold of a full-time role in the outfield, and Justyn-Henry Malloy has settled in as the Tigers' primary designated hitter. • Can't convert save opportunity
Neris (6-2) took the loss and blew a save against the Giants on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter over one inning.

Advice: Neris entered in the top of the ninth frame with Chicago leading by two runs. He got one out before Jorge Soler reached base on catcher's interference. Mike Yastrzemski followed with a walk before Thairo Estrada gave San Francisco the lead with a three-run homer. Though Neris retired the following two batters, the damage had been done, and the Cubs weren't able to mount a comeback in the bottom of the frame. The blown save was the fourth of the season for Neris and his third over his past seven chances. He's allowed nine earned runs across his past 8.2 frames, so his hold on the closer position may be tenuous. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:14 pm

    • Neris blows save as Cubs lose 7-6 Monday
Hector Neris allowed three runs, blew the save and took the loss against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: The Cubs’ lead evaporated quickly in the ninth inning. With one out, Jorge Soler reached on a catcher interference. After Neris issued a walk to Mike Yastrzemski, Thairo Estrada hit a three-run home run to give the Giants a 7-6 lead. Neris now has four blown saves on the year including two blown saves in his last three opportunities. Neris’ ERA is now 4.73 on the year. His grip on the closer role loosens with every blown save. • Picks up fourth win
Skenes (4-0) earned the win Monday against the Reds after he allowed one run in six innings. He gave up six hits, walked one and struck out seven.

Advice: Skenes has been every bit as advertised over his first seven career starts, and he once again showed off an impressive repertoire Monday to get his fourth win. The rookie right-hander has now gone at least six innings in five of his seven starts, and he's reached at least seven strikeouts six times. The 22-year-old has allowed only seven free passes all season and will take a 2.29 ERA and 0.99 WHIP into his next start. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:32 pm

    • Belts two homers
O'Neill went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs and a walk in Monday's win over Toronto.

Advice: O'Neill hit two of Boston's four home runs for his first multi-homer game since April 5. He's up to 14 long balls this season, but just six of those have come since the start of May. The slugging outfielder is slashing .258/.354/.534 with 25 RBI through 206 plate appearances. O'Neill has gone 11-for-30 (.367) with five multi-hit performances in eight games this month. • Fans six in no-decision
Fried allowed a run on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out six during the win over Detroit.

Advice: Fried worked five scoreless frames until the Tigers finally broke through with a run in the sixth inning. He wasn't very efficient Monday, throwing 60 of 103 pitches for strikes while failing to complete six innings for the second straight outing. Fried dropped his ERA to 3.11 with a 76:27 K:BB through 84 innings. He's currently in line for a tough road matchup with the Yankees this weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:18 pm

    • O’Neill blasts two home runs against Jays Monday
Tyler O’Neill went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs against the Blue Jays on Monday.

Advice: O’Neill’s two home runs give him 14 on the season. He took Toronto starter Yusei Kikuchi deep in the first inning and again in the third inning. O’Neill was the designated hitter on Monday, but seems to be over his knee discomfort. He’s hitting .258 with an .888 OPS and 25 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Monday, 7:13 pm

    • Paul Skenes dominates again in seven-strikeout gem
Paul Skenes struck out seven and allowed one run over six innings on Monday in a win over the Reds.

Advice: Skenes got into trouble in the opening frame when he surrendered a run-scoring double to Spencer Steer, but managed to escape the frame without any additional damage, and went on to limit Cincinnati’s lineup to just five baserunners over his final five innings of work. The electrifying 22-year-old rookie induced an eye-popping 18 swinging strikes in this one, including nine on his splinker alone, and finished with a near-elite 34 percent CSW. He’s recorded at least seven strikeouts in six of his first seven starts since arriving in the majors back in mid-May. He’s the real deal. He’ll bring a sparkling 2.29 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 53/7 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a favorable matchup on Sunday against the strikeout-prone Rays. Rotoworld Monday, 6:59 pm
