O'Neill went 3-for-5 with a double, a walk, a run, two RBI and two stolen bases in a 6-5 extra-innings win against Miami on Thursday.

Advice: O'Neill accounted for three of Boston's eight total hits to record his third consecutive multi-hit effort. He came up big in extra frames, recording an RBI single in the 11th inning and adding the game-winning RBI on a double in the 12th. O'Neill also collected two thefts in the contest after notching just one steal (on one attempt) over his first 60 games of the season. Swiping bags probably won't become a trend for the outfielder moving forward, though it's worth noting that he stole 29 combined bases across the 2021 and 2022 campaigns while with St. Louis. • Productive in win
Naylor went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 8-4 win over the White Sox.

Advice: In addition to his two hits, Naylor also got aboard on a fielder's choice and a catcher interference. The first baseman endured a 3-for-20 stretch over six games from June 22-28, but he's bounced back with a trio of multi-hit efforts over his last five contests. Overall, he's at a .243/.322/.497 slash line with 20 home runs, 63 RBI, 48 runs scored, 16 doubles and three stolen bases through 81 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:15 pm

    • Surrenders four runs in defeat
Bassitt (7-7) took the loss against Houston on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Advice: Bassitt got off to a terrible start in allowing six of the first seven batters he faced to reach base, resulting in three Astros runs. The veteran hurler bounced back to give up just one more run over the remainder of his five frames, but the first-inning damage was enough to send him to his seventh loss of the season. Bassitt had been rolling coming into Thursday, posting a 1.41 ERA across his previous five starts, and the four runs he yielded against Houston were his most since he gave up seven runs against the Dodgers on April 26. Bassitt's overall numbers this season have been pretty much in line with what fantasy managers have come to expect from him -- he has a 3.43 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 94:41 K:BB across 102.1 frames. • Continues to pitch better
Neris tossed a scoreless inning of relief in Thursday's 10-2 win over the Phillies. He allowed one hit and struck out two.

Advice: After a rough patch in the middle of June, Neris has now strung together four straight scoreless appearances. That's allowed the veteran reliever to lower his season ERA to a more respectable 4.11. Neris logged a stellar 1.71 ERA across 68.1 innings last year for the Astros, so there is potential for continued improvement in 2024. The better play has also likely kept him locked into the closer role for the time being. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:30 pm

    • Brent Rooker has two hits, steals base in victory
Brent Rooker went 2-for-3 with an RBI and also stole a base on Thursday in the Athletics’ win over the Angels.

Advice: Rooker extended Oakland’s early lead with a run-scoring single in the third inning off Angels starter Roansy Contreras before picking up his fourth theft of the season later in the frame. The 29-year-old outfielder is in the midst of a strong season with an .880 OPS with 17 homers and four steals through 74 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:22 pm

    • Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) nears rehab assignment
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session on Thursday.

Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Thursday that Kershaw will throw a simulated game later this week before heading back out for a handful of minor league rehab starts. Barring any setbacks, it sounds like the veteran southpaw will return before the end of August, if not sooner. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:32 pm

    • Throws 30 pitches
Kershaw (shoulder) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Thursday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Kershaw was expected to complete the session Wednesday, but he ultimately took the mound one day later. Things apparently went well, as manager Dave Roberts said that Kershaw will throw a sim game -- as early as Sunday -- and will then complete a two or three-start rehab assignment before potentially being activated. • Yandy Díaz gets rare day off Thursday vs. Royals
Yandy Díaz is not in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Royals.

Advice: It appears to be a routine off day for Díaz, who is rarely out of Tampa Bay’s lineup. It’ll be Isaac Paredes moving over to cover first base in his absence on the Fourth of July in Kansas City. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:31 pm

    • Idle Thursday
Diaz isn't in the Rays' lineup Thursday versus the Royals.

Advice: Diaz is getting a day off Thursday after going 1-for-9 in the first two games of the series versus the Royals. This is his first absence from the lineup since May 25. Isaac Paredes will shift over from third to first base, and Jose Caballero will enter the lineup at third in the ninth spot. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:27 pm
