    • Craig Kimbrel gets save against Angels
Despite allowing an unearned run in the ninth, Craig Kimbrel picked up his seventh save Wednesday against the Orioles.

Advice: Kimbrel could have saved himself some trouble by handling Ehire Adrianza’s soft grounder to start the inning, but he missed it and second baseman Jorge Mateo threw wildly after picking up the ball, resulting in a single and a two-base error. Adrianza then came around to score on a groundout. Jo Adell walked with two outs, only to then end the game on a caught stealing. Replay suggested that he was safe at second, but the call stood after a lengthy challenge. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:17 pm
    • Activation coming soon
Manager Torey Lovullo said Wednesday that Sewald (oblique) is meeting with the Diamondbacks medical team to determine whether he needs another rehab appearance or if he's ready to return from the 15-day injured list, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Sewald allowed one unearned run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in his first rehab outing at Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. That outing might be the only rehab appearance that Sewald needs, as Lovullo noted that the right-hander is "getting extremely close" to a return to the Arizona bullpen. Sewald has been out all season with a strained left oblique, but he should take over as the team's closer once he's activated. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 am

    • Clubs second homer
Rizzo went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the A's.

Advice: Paul Blackburn left a 92.4 mph fastball up in the zone in the first inning, and Rizzo clubbed it over the fence in right-center field. The veteran first baseman snapped a 14-game homer drought with the blast, and he's still looking for his first sustained hot streak of 2024. Over 24 contests, Rizzo is slashing .231/.307/.319 with two doubles, two homers and 10 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:45 am
    • Back in action
O'Neill started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: O'Neill was back in the lineup after a stay on the injured list due to a concussion. The Red Sox are coping with injuries to several key players, which means O'Neill's bat should be in the starting nine most days going forward. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:45 am
    • Little run support in loss
Severino (2-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Giants, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out five over six innings.

Advice: Severino held the Giants scoreless through four frames before four singles in the fifth plated three runs, with only one of those knocks being a hard-hit ball. It was his second start of the year allowing no walks and his second straight quality outing after failing to reach six frames in each of his first three starts. The 30-year-old owns a 2.67 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB in 27 innings. He lines up to take the rubber again versus the Cubs next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:33 am
    • Severino suffers through one bad inning in loss
Luis Severino surrendered three runs in six innings Tuesday in a loss to the Giants.

Advice: Severino didn’t have much luck tonight; all of the runs came on four singles in the fifth, and only of those was a hard-hit ball. He allowed just one other single and no walks over the other five innings, and he struck out five. He’ll take a 2.67 ERA into his next start versus the Cubs. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:02 pm
    • Swipes two more bags
Turang went 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Turang is now 12-for-12 in stolen base attempts this year, tying Elly De La Cruz for the league lead. After a disappointing rookie campaign, the 24-year-old Turang has gotten off to an excellent start this season, batting .319 with an .847 OPS, two homers, 12 runs scored and nine RBI through 21 games. • Rizzo homers in Yankees win
Anthony Rizzo went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a win over the A’s on Tuesday.

Advice: The home run was just Rizzo’s second on the season and was hit 385 feet at 98.4 mph off the bat. He now has 10 RBI and a slash line of .231/.307/.319 on the year. We’ve yet to see the resurgence that many were hoping for from Rizzo, and it’s possible that the 34-year-old has endured too many injuries to get back to being anything more than a deep league fantasy player. • Paul Sewald (oblique) fans two in rehab debut
Paul Sewald (oblique) allowed an unearned run and recorded two outs on Tuesday in his minor league rehab debut for Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Sewald notched a pair of strikeouts and threw 21 pitches (14 strikes) in his first rehab outing. The 33-year-old veteran stopper figures to rejoin Arizona’s injury-depleted bullpen in the coming days after missing the opening month of the season recovering from a Grade 2 left oblique strain.
