    • Belts fourth homer Wednesday
Carter went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a triple in a 5-1 victory versus the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Carter hit the second of back-to-back homers for Seattle in the fourth inning and added a run-scoring triple in the seventh. The long ball was his second in three games after he went deep just twice over his first 19 contests of the campaign. Carter's average sat below the Mendoza line as recently as April 20, but with two multi-hit games over his past three contests, it's now up to .215. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:29 pm

    • Contributes solo shot
Altuve went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Wednesday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Altuve launched a solo blast off closer Hector Neris in the ninth inning to bring the Astros to within a run, but the team ultimately fell short. The long ball was Altuve's sixth of the season, though he has only eight RBI. The star second baseman is otherwise having a fantastic campaign, slashing .350/.412/.602 with 17 runs and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:15 pm
    • Evan Carter homers, triples in win over Mariners
Evan Carter went 2-for-4 with a home run, triple, and two RBI to lead the Rangers to a 5-1 win over the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Carter had an excellent day at the plate with his second multi-hit game in his last three contests. He went yard in the fourth inning, going back-to-back with Adolis García for a pair of homers off Bryce Miller. Carter drove in a second run with a triple in the seventh. The 21-year-old outfielder is hitting .215/.315/.456 with four homers, 16 runs scored, and one steal across 92 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:20 pm

    • Wyatt Langford reaches four times against Mariners
Wyatt Langford went 3-for-3 with a run scored and a walk against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Langford has his best day at the plate so far, reaching in all four plate appearances. He hit a hard double off the center field wall in the second, but stumbled going around second and was caught on the bases. He drew a walk in the fourth and added two more base hits, scoring on a single by Jonah Heim in the sixth. The 22-year-old outfielder is now slashing .261/.340/.318 with 11 runs scored across 100 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:19 pm
    • Jose Altuve goes deep in Astros’ loss to Cubs
Jose Altuve belted a solo homer on Wednesday in the Astros’ loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Altuve took former teammate Héctor Neris deep in the ninth inning for his sixth round-tripper of the season. It was the first time he’s left the yard since a two-homer outburst back on April 14. The veteran second baseman has been one of the most impactful five-category contributors in the entire fantasy landscape this season, batting .350 (36-for-103) with 17 runs scored, six homers, eight RBI and three steals through 25 games. • Max Scherzer gives up three runs in rehab start
Max Scherzer looked a bit rusty in his first minor league rehab start at Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, giving up three runs on five hits over 2 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 39-year-old right-hander struck out four batters in the contest and didn’t issue a base on balls. Two of the three runs scored against him came on solo home runs — off the bats of Jason Martin and Cole Tucker. Scherzer threw a total of 52 pitches in the ballgame, 32 of those for strikes. All that really matters is that he made it through the start healthy. He’s going to need at least one additional rehab start, but if things go well in that outing he could then be cleared to join the Rangers’ rotation in early May. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:33 pm

    • Confirmed for first rehab start
The Rangers announced that Scherzer (back) will make his first minor-league rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Texas' decision to place Scherzer on the 15-day injured list rather than the 60-day IL coming out of spring training was the first hint that the veteran righty was making a speedier-than-expected recovery from his Dec. 15 surgery to address a herniated disc in his back, and he appears to have faced no setbacks while advancing through his throwing progression during the first month of the regular season. Scherzer will now move on to the final phase of his ramp-up program by heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment, which will likely consist of at least two appearances with Round Rock or another affiliate. According to the Associated Press, manager Bruce Bochy said Scherzer is expected to throw about 50 pitches in Wednesday's outing after he tossed a 40-pitch simulated game this past Friday. • Gets maintenance day
Turner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Turner's absence from the lineup looks to be nothing more than a routine maintenance day after the 39-year-old had started in each of the Blue Jays' last nine games. Daniel Vogelbach will fill in for Turner as Toronto's designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:57 pm

    • Shut down after setback with elbow
Williams felt some discomfort in his right elbow in his most recent simulated game Saturday at the Guardians' spring facility in Arizona and will receive an injection and be shut down for seven days, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The soreness was similar to what he first felt during spring training in a weighted-ball workout. The Guardians are hopeful that Williams can begin a throwing program in a week and ramp back up again, but it's certainly no guarantee that his recovery process will go that smoothly. Even in a best-case scenario, Williams looks set to remain on the 15-day injured list well into May. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:38 pm
