• David Bednar strikes out two in scoreless inning
David Bednar struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning against the Twins on Saturday.

Advice: The Pirates plated three runs in the bottom of the eighth to go up by four, putting a save situation out of reach for Bednar, who took over to close it out in the top of the ninth. He worked around a base hit, striking out two in a scoreless frame. The 29-year-old right-hander has been excellent after a slow start. He’s allowed just three runs over 17 1/3 innings since the start of May while converting eight of his 13 saves. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

  • Carmen Mlodzinski records five outs as opener Saturday
Carmen Mlodzinski tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings as the opener in a no-decision against the Twins on Saturday.

Advice: With injuries to the pitching staff, Mlodzinski made the start as the opener against the Twins. He recorded the first five outs for the team, striking out one with no hits or walks allowed. The 25-year-old right-hander will likely revert back to the bullpen with a 5.84 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and a 12/8 K/BB ratio across 12 1/3 innings. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

  • Simeon Woods Richardson takes loss vs. Pirates
Simeon Woods Richardson allowed one run with six strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a loss to the Pirates on Saturday.

Advice: Woods Richardson was excellent on Saturday despite taking a tough-luck loss as the Twins were unable to give him any run support. He scattered five hits over six scoreless innings, striking out six batters with no walks allowed. Rowdy Tellez would finally get to him in the seventh, launching a solo homer to break the scoreless game. The 23-year-old right-hander has produced a 2.84 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 42/11 K/BB ratio across 50 2/3 innings. He’ll take on the Athletics in Minnesota on Thursday. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago
  • Wilson picks up first save Saturday
Justin Wilson picked up the save against the Cubs on Saturday.

Advice: The save was Wilson’s first of the year. With Alexis Diaz unavailable after picking up his 13th save on Friday, Lucas Sims started the ninth inning. Wilson came in with two men on and one out and escaped with the save. Outside of the occasional save, Wilson doesn’t have much fantasy value. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

  • Rebounds vs. Atlanta
Gore (5-5) earned the win Saturday over Atlanta, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: Gore delivered four shutout innings before he was ultimately charged with a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings. While he failed to make it through six innings for a third straight outing, it was a solid rebound effort from Gore after he was tagged for six runs in just 4.1 innings in his last start against the Mets. Overall, the 25-year-old southpaw sports a 3.57 ERA with a 1.37 WHIP and 81:22 K:BB across 68 innings this year. Gore's currently scheduled to face the Marlins at home in his next start. • Takes loss versus Royals
Castillo (5-7) pitched five innings, allowing five runs on six hits while striking out four and walking one in Saturday's loss to the Royals.

Advice: Castillo had a tough outing as he gave up a season-high five runs in his seventh loss of the season. His offense gave him the lead two separate times Saturday, but he gave it back each time as he snapped a streak of 10 straight starts allowing two earned runs or fewer. Castillo remains one of the more consistent and durable starters this season, he's gone at least five innings in all of his 14 starts and will take a 3.35 ERA into his next outing. • Abbott picks up fifth win against Cubs Saturday
Andrew Abbott allowed one run in five innings and got the win in the Reds’ 4-3 victory over the Cubs on Saturday.

Advice: Abbott gave up five hits, walked four and struck out five. The win was his fifth in 13 starts this year. He’s now won three of his last four starts. While Abbott has a 3.28 ERA on the season, his xFIP is significantly higher at 4.61. He’s benefitted from a .246 BABIP and 84 percent left on base percentage while striking out only 18 percent of batters this year. Abbott will need to miss more bats to avoid regression over the rest of the season. The 25-year-old left-hander is set to face the Brewers on the road next week.

  • Brown allows three runs in four innings Saturday
Ben Brown allowed three runs in four innings and took the loss against the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Brown gave up three hits, walked one and struck out three. He allowed five runs in his last start, which was also against the Reds. Brown has completed five innings in only three of his eight starts for the Cubs this year. He’s still looking for his first win as a starting pitcher. Outside of his performance on May 28th against the Brewers when he went seven innings, allowed no runs and recorded 10 strikeouts, Brown’s been fairly pedestrian when starting. The 24-year-old right-hander is tentatively scheduled to face the Cardinals at home next week.

  • Camilo Doval locks down 11th save vs. Rangers
Camilo Doval tossed a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save against the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: Doval was summoned with a two-run lead to close out the game in the ninth. He walked the leadoff man and gave up a single to bring the go-ahead run to the plate with one out. He induced a groundout and a fly out to end the game and secure the win for the Giants, picking up his 11th save. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago
