    • Rosenthal: Luzardo “likely to be traded”
      According to Ken Rosenthal, Jesús Luzardo “is the single player most likely to be traded” this season.

      Advice: Luzardo was a popular name in trade rumors in the offseason but was ultimately not moved. He has two more arbitration years before he becomes a free agent, so the Marlins should be able to get a decent return for him. In a year where they are not contending, it makes sense to see what they could get for the lefty, especially with Sandy Alcantara, Max Meyer, Eury Perez, Edward Cabrera, Braxton Garrett, and Ryan Weathers all able to take on a full workload in the rotation next season.       Kirby did not factor into the decision in a win over the Astros on Wednesday, allowing one run on six hits over six innings while striking out eight.

      Advice: Kirby retired the first eight batters he faced to open the contest and didn't allow an extra-base hit over his six innings of work. The right-hander induced 15 swings and misses on the night en route to posting his highest strikeout total in his last six starts. He's now gone six or more innings in four consecutive outings, though he's posted quality starts in only two of those appearances. Kirby has also walked only two batters over six starts in May.       Yoshida (thumb) is set to begin swinging a bat in the upcoming days, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

      Advice: This is the first real sign that Yoshida is working his way back to playing again. He was placed on the injured list May 1 and spent most of the month shut down from baseball activities. When he does begin swinging, Yoshida will wear a hand guard over the injured thumb.       Langford started in left field and went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-1 win over Arizona.

      Advice: This was Langford's second game back from a stint on the injured list due to a hamstring injury. He played his first game in the field after returning as the DH on Tuesday.       Advice: Pepiot appeared on his way to a quality start after giving up one run through five frames, but he was pulled with two outs in the sixth after allowing two batters to reach base, and one came around to score after his departure. Still, this was a positive step forward in the right-hander's second game back following a stint on the injured list.     • George Kirby collects eight strikeouts vs. Astros
      George Kirby allowed one run with eight strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Astros on Wednesday.

      Advice: After giving up five runs in back-to-back outings, Kirby put together an excellent start against the Astros. Three hits in the fourth would bring the only run across to score for Houston. Kirby scattered three other hits and did not walk a batter, striking out eight over his six innings of work. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 4.08 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and a 65/6 K/BB ratio across 68 1/3 innings into a start against the Athletics in Oakland on Tuesday.       Ryan Pepiot allowed two earned runs on three hits across 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Athletics. He walked one and struck out seven in a no-decision.

      Advice: Pepiot got back on track Wednesday. He mixed his pitches well - throwing his slider, fastball and changeup each at least 28% of the time - while throwing a first pitch strike to 17 of 21 Athletics’ hitters.     • Francisco Lindor reaches twice in loss to Dodgers
      Francisco Lindor went 1-for-4 with a run scored on Wednesday in the Mets’ loss to the Dodgers.

      Advice: Lindor showed zero ill effects, reaching base safely in two of his four plate appearances less than 24 hours after suffering a left index finger contusion during Tuesday’s doubleheader.       Gorman went 2-for-5 with a solo homer, an RBI double and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over Cincinnati.

      Advice: Gorman extended the Cardinals' lead to 2-0 with an RBI double in the fourth inning before launching a home run off left-hander Brent Suter in the eighth, his 10th long ball of the year and second in as many games. After a sluggish start to the year, Gorman's started to turn things around, going 8-for-21 (.380) with seven RBI in his last six contests.
