    • Second straight poor start
Glasnow allowed five runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision versus the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: All of the damage came in the fourth inning between a Willy Adames RBI single and a Rhys Hoskins grand slam. Glasnow has allowed five runs in back-to-back starts, though he's avoided the loss in both of those outings. For the season, he has a 3.47 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 143:29 K:BB through 109 innings over 18 starts. He's projected to make his next start at Detroit rather than Philadelphia due to the Dodgers inserting Justin Wrobleski into the rotation for a spot start Sunday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:13 pm
    • Tanner Houck pulled during sloppy fourth inning
Tanner Houck was charged with three runs — one earned — in 3 1/3 innings Friday versus the Yankees.

Advice: Houck lost his command after a brief rain delay interrupted his start tonight, but he still would have gotten through four scoreless if Enmanuel Valdez hadn’t botched a double play ball, resulting in no outs. At the same time, it wasn’t Valdez’s fault that Houck walked three in the inning. On the night, just 33 of his 68 pitches were strikes. It was a second straight rough outing, though at least this one didn’t take a toll on his ERA, which is still fifth in the AL at 2.68. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:58 pm
    • Nestor Cortes strikes out eight against Red Sox
Nestor Cortes held the Red Sox to one run in six innings and struck out eight in the Yankees’ 3-1 victory Friday.

Advice: Cortes gave up 410-, 397- and 386-foot flyballs, but Yankee Stadium managed to hold two of them, with only Romy Gonzalez leaving the yard. Cortes remained stuck at 4-7 while improving his now 3.41 ERA and 105/20 K/BB ratio through 111 innings. He’ll get the Rays next time out. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:58 pm
    • Slade Cecconi struggles, but gets no decision vs. SD
Slade Cecconi was fortunate to get a no-decision Friday against the Padres while allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Advice: Cecconi was fortunate to escape without a loss, as the Diamondbacks were able to go to work on the San Diego bullpen — particularly Robert Suarez — to keep him from the decision. It’s still another bad outing for the 25-year-old, and he’s now the owner of a 6.10 ERA. If he stays in the rotation, his final start of the 2024 first half comes against Atlanta next week. Absolutely not. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:55 pm
    • Randy Vasquez pitches well in no-decision
Randy Vasquez struck out six while allowing two runs over 6 1/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Friday in a no-decision.

Advice: Vasquez pitched well enough to win. The San Diego bullpen did not. Despite exiting with a 7-2 lead, the relief corps of the Padres would give up six runs and prevent the 25-year-old from qualifying for the W. Still, it was a solid outing, and one where he didn’t show any signs of being slowed by the forearm contusion that knocked him out of last week’s start vs. Boston. A very encouraging effort — despite no decision — from a hurler who has gotten better as the season progresses. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:54 pm

    • Aaron Civale allows three homers in debut with MIL
Aaron Civale was charged for four runs in five innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: This was Civale’s first start as a member of the Brew Crew, and it’s fair to say it was a mixed bag. He gave up three homers — including two of the three that Will Smith hit in the game — but he also struck out eight and allowed only two other hits in the contest. The former Guardian and Ray has not shown any consistency in 2024, and Saturday was a pretty good example of the risks that come with using him as a fantasy option, especially against a team as good as the Dodgers. A (potentially) easier test comes next week against the Pirates. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:45 pm
    • Glasnow allows grand slam in no-decision vs. MIL
Tyler Glasnow went six innings while surrendering five runs in a start against the Brewers while not qualifying for a decision.

Advice: If you take away one swing, this start looks a heck of a lot better. Glasnow allowed only three hits while striking out seven and walking two, but whenever you give up a grand slam, you’re literally taking away a chance for a quality start. In this case, the bases were jammed and then cleared by Rhys Hoskins to give Milwaukee a 5-2 lead in the fifth. Fortunately for Glasnow and the Dodgers, Los Angeles was able to score six unanswered to get the win. His final start before the All-Star break is scheduled against the Tigers on Friday. • Struggles continue
Cecconi allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Friday.

Advice: Cecconi was spared the loss only because the Diamondbacks rallied in the top of the ninth inning. This was the sixth time in seven appearances since the start of June that Cecconi failed to complete five innings. He's now at a 6.10 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 50:12 K:BB through 62 innings over 13 outings (12 starts) this season. The 25-year-old's next start is projected to be at home versus Atlanta. • Steady in no-decision
Vasquez allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six over 6.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Vasquez gave up a two-run home run to Joc Pederson in the first inning, but that was the extent of his damage. The Padres built up a 7-2 lead by the time he left, but the bullpen's meltdown cost Vasquez his chance at the win. This was his third quality start of the year, and he's allowed just three runs over his last 15.1 innings. Overall, Vasquez is at a 4.66 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 38:14 K:BB through 58 innings over 12 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Mariners, assuming the Padres skip Adam Mazur in the rotation with two off days next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:27 pm
