      Padres manager Mike Shildt said Friday that Tatis (quadriceps) isn't likely to be able to play in the All-Star Game, Bernie Wilson of the Associated Press reports.

      Advice: Tatis was voted into the Midsummer Classic as a starter in the outfield alongside teammate Jurickson Profar, but it appears the former will need to sit out the contest. This isn't a surprising development, as Tatis had previously indicated that he could remain on the injured list until after the All-Star break. Tatis' election to the All-Star Game came as a result of a strong first half of the campaign during which he's slashed .279/.354/.468 with 14 homers, 36 RBI, 50 runs and eight stolen bases over 80 contests.       Robert went 2-for-3 with two walks and two stolen bases in Friday's 3-2 win over the Marlins.

      Advice: Miami had trouble keeping Robert off the bases or preventing him from taking an extra bag when he got there, but his teammates couldn't bring him home. The 26-year-old has hit safely in eight straight games and 13 of his last 15, and over the latter stretch he's slashing .310/.394/.552 with three homers, five steals, eight RBI and 10 runs.       Cortes came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning loss to the Red Sox, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: The southpaw was at his baffling best, tossing 68 of 97 pitches for strikes and leaving the mound in line for his fifth win of the season. A blown save by Clay Holmes forced Cortes to settle for his ninth quality start, and he'll take a 3.41 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 106:20 K:BB through 111 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Tampa Bay.       Candelario went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 5-4 loss to Detroit.

      Advice: The steal was the fourth of the season for Candelario, who swiped a career-high eight bags in 2023. The corner infielder/designated hitter, who reversed a season-opening slump in June, is back on skids. Candelario is 3-for-28 with a 30-percent strikeout rate over the last seven games.       Civale allowed four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.

      Advice: Civale received a tough assignment in his first start as a Brewer, and he didn't do particularly well. Will Smith tagged him for two solo shots and Miguel Vargas added a two-run home run, though Civale exited the game in line for the win before the Brewers' bullpen blew the lead. The three homers allowed are a season high for the right-hander, and that could be a problem that crops up more since Milwaukee's American Family Field is more prone to homers than his old home park, Tropicana Field. Civale is at a 5.18 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 92:30 K:BB through 92 innings over 18 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Pirates.       Cole Ragans didn’t factor into the decision despite allowing just two runs in seven innings with eight strikeouts against the Rockies on Friday.

      Advice: Ragans did walk three and gave up five hits, but for the most part, it was a very strong outing and a nice bounce back from his struggles against the Guardians (4 2/3 innings, five runs). The left-hander has shown that 2023 was no fluke with a 3.28 ERA and 134/37 K/BB over his 19 starts and 109 2/3 innings of work.       Nestor Cortes held the Red Sox to one run in six innings and struck out eight in the Yankees’ 3-1 victory Friday.

      Advice: Cortes gave up 410-, 397- and 386-foot flyballs, but Yankee Stadium managed to hold two of them, with only Romy Gonzalez leaving the yard.       Aaron Civale was charged for four runs in five innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.

      Advice: This was Civale’s first start as a member of the Brew Crew, and it’s fair to say it was a mixed bag. He gave up three homers — including two of the three that Will Smith hit in the game — but he also struck out eight and allowed only two other hits in the contest. The former Guardian and Ray has not shown any consistency in 2024, and Saturday was a pretty good example of the risks that come with using him as a fantasy option, especially against a team as good as the Dodgers.       Advice: The veteran closer extended his scoreless appearances streak to six with this performance, promptly retiring the side on a tidy 10 pitches. Kimbrel stands fourth all-time in career saves with 439, needing 40 more to pass Lee Smith for third.
