    • Hits IL with shoulder impingement
The Mets placed Diaz on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement.

Advice: Left-hander Josh Walker was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to take Diaz's spot on the 26-man active roster and in the New York bullpen. After blowing ninth-inning leads in four of his last five appearances, Diaz had already been expected to get a break from closing duties, and his injury will only further delay his opportunity to resurface as the Mets' preferred ninth-inning man. Reed Garrett and Adam Ottavino likely represent the best bets for saves out of the Mets bullpen while Diaz is on the shelf. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:01 pm

    • Mets place Díaz on IL with shoulder impingement
Mets placed RHP Edwin Díaz on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder impingement.

Advice: Well, this is definitely not something the Mets were planning a few hours ago, since Díaz’s replacement on the roster, Josh Walker, was just sent down earlier today. It’s nice to have this explanation for Díaz’s struggles, even if those struggles still seemed pretty fluky. Reed Garrett is probably the best bet in the Mets pen for now, though Adam Ottavino could get save chances as well. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:59 pm

    • Yields run Sunday
Hader allowed a solo home run and struck out one batter during Sunday's win over Oakland.

Advice: Hader entered a non-save situation and eventually finished off the 5-2 win, but not before coughing up a solo shot to Shea Langeliers. That homer snapped Hader's 8.1-inning scoreless streak and his seven-inning hitless streak. The veteran southpaw owns a 4.13 ERA with a 38:9 K:BB and seven saves this season. • Picks up fourth save
Sewald earned the save in a win over the Marlins on Saturday, striking out one over a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Sewald had no issues running through the bottom of Miami's lineup to secure the save, needing just nine pitches to get the job done. The right-handed reliever remains perfect on the season in save opportunities and hasn't allowed a run since his first relief appearance back on May 7 (spanning six appearances). Sewald has also recorded at least one strikeout in three straight outings. Rotowire.com May 26, 7:26 am

    • Blows another save Saturday
Diaz gave up a run on two hits and struck out one in the ninth inning Saturday, blowing his fourth save of the season in a 7-2 extra-inning loss to the Giants.

Advice: After the right-hander tossed a scoreless inning and recorded a hold Friday, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza gave Diaz another shot at closing with the team clinging to a 2-1 lead. He couldn't get the job done, giving up two singles with a stolen base in between to tie the game before Sean Reid-Foley and Josh Walker combined for a disastrous 10th inning. Diaz has blown three straight save chances and four of five since May 5, stumbling to an 11.05 ERA in 7.1 innings over that stretch despite an 11:3 K:BB. Diaz last had struggles like this in 2019 and was eventually able to find his form again, but the Mets will be hard-pressed to use him in high-leverage spots until he shows some consistency. • Sewald records four save against Marlins Saturday
Paul Sewald tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Sewald has allowed one run with seven strikeouts and one walk in seven appearances and converted all four of his save opportunities since coming off the injured list. Fantasy managers that held Sewald since the beginning of the year can’t ask for much more than what they’re getting right now. Rotoworld May 25, 10:17 pm

    • Edwin Díaz charged with fourth blown save Saturday
Edwin Díaz allowed one run with one strikeout in the ninth inning to blow the save chance against the Giants on Saturday.

Advice: After Díaz had struck out two batters in a scoreless inning on Friday, he got the save chance on Saturday against the Giants. Asked to close it out with a one-run lead, he surrendered two hits to tie the game, blowing the save chance. The 30-year-old right-hander is having a rough season after missing the 2023 campaign, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 20 frames. Given his track record and overall struggles in the Mets bullpen, he should continue to get a chance to work through his issues in the late innings. Rotoworld May 25, 1:56 pm
