    • Pfaadt allows four earned runs in loss to Rangers
Brandon Pfaadt allowed six hits and four earned runs over seven innings in the Diamondbacks’ loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Pfaadt got some early run support in the second inning but the Diamondbacks were unable to keep pace with the Rangers, who hung three runs on Pfaadt in the fifth inning via a Corey Seager three-run homer. Pfaadt allowed three or more earned runs in three of his five starts in May, and picked up just one win on the month. Pfaadt will carry a 4.16 ERA and 1.07 WHIP into his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Mets. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago
    • Zack Littell takes tough luck loss to A’s
Zack Littell allowed three runs (none earned) on five hits in seven innings in a loss to the Athletics on Tuesday.

Advice: Littell also struck out nine and walked just one. A Brandon Lowe fielding error got the sixth inning started, and after a walk, Littell was able to get two outs before giving up a three-run shot to Miguel Andujar. That was the difference in the game. The 28-year-old had a dominant performance from his splitter on Tuesday and rode it to a 31 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW overall. He’ll now take a 3.03 ERA into a showdown this weekend with the Orioles where he’ll be a risky option in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Punches out 10 in loss
Rodriguez (5-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Red Sox, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out 10.

Advice: Rodriguez got off to a rocky start Tuesday, allowing a pair of runs in each of the first two innings. The 24-year-old Rodriguez would settle in and hold Boston off the board over his final four frames while recording a career-high 10 strikeouts. However, the Orioles couldn't overcome the early deficit in the eventual 8-3 defeat. It's the first time since April 23 that Rodriguez has allowed more than two earned runs in a start -- he'd gone 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA in his previous three outings. Overall, he sports a 3.53 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP and 61:21 K:BB across 51 innings this season. Rodriguez's next start is currently scheduled for early next week in Toronto. • Grayson Rodriguez stumbles early against Red Sox
Grayson Rodriguez allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Advice: The Red Sox jumped on Rodriguez early, scoring four runs on five hits in the first two innings, but the 24-year-old responded with four shutout innings to end his day. He also struck out 10 batters and walked just one on the day while posting a 38 percent whiff rate and 40 percent CSW. It mostly came down to location with Rodriguez on Tuesday. The pitches the Red Sox hit hard were either pitches that Rodriguez missed his spots on or pitches early in the count that he was simply trying to throw over the plate. He now has a 3.53 ERA and will look to get back on track next week against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld 56 minutes ago

    • Merrill Kelly (shoulder) set to resume throwing
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Merrill Kelly (shoulder) will start a throwing program next week.

Advice: Kelly has been out since late April due to a right shoulder strain and is going to require several weeks of bullpen sessions and rehab starts before he’s an option for Arizona again. Rotoworld Today, 4:52 pm

    • Freddie Freeman powers Dodgers to win over Mets
Freddie Freeman went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI, powering the Dodgers to a 5-2 extra-inning win over the Mets in the front-end of Tuesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: Freeman followed Mookie Betts’ go-ahead 10th-inning single with a majestic 383-foot missile to right field off Mets reliever Jorge López to give Los Angeles a commanding three-run lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. The 34-year-old also delivered a key run-scoring single in the eighth inning that jump-started the Dodgers’ late-inning rally. He hasn’t been an otherworldly force of nature at the dish, but still boasts an .855 OPS with six homers and one steal across 56 games. Rotoworld Today, 4:02 pm

    • Nearing throwing program
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Kelly (shoulder) is expected to begin a throwing program next week, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: The right-hander has apparently been progressing well in his recovery from a right shoulder strain and is now on the cusp of resuming baseball work. Kelly will require some time to build his arm up before progressing to mound work and eventually a rehab assignment, so he shouldn't be expected to rejoin the Diamondbacks until sometime in July. • Starting Wednesday's game
Dunning will start Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: It had been Dunning's turn Tuesday, but he will be pushed back a day with Nathan Eovaldi (groin) returning from the injured list. Dunning threw 74 pitches in his first start back from the IL last week versus the Phillies, so he might not quite be fully stretched out for Wednesday's outing. Rotowire.com Today, 1:54 pm

    • Snaps losing streak Monday
Miller (4-5) earned the win over Houston on Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six batters over six innings.

Advice: Miller came into the contest having lost three consecutive outings, during which he posted a 5.71 ERA. The right-hander bounced back with his sixth quality start of the season and his sixth outing with at least six strikeouts. Miller has posted a 3.48 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 62:18 K:BB through 64.2 innings on the campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:28 pm
