Javier Assad serves up two homers in loss Sunday
Javier Assad wasn’t at his best in Sunday night’s loss to the Cardinals, giving up four runs on five hits over his five innings of work.
Advice: The right-hander piled up eight strikeouts on the night while issuing three free passes. All of the damage done against him came on two bad pitches, that Paul Goldschmidt pulverized for a pair of two-run homers — one in the third inning and another in the fifth. Assad got seven swings and misses on 81 pitches on the night, registering a strong CSW of 35 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he carries his impressive 2.17 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 54/23 K/BB ratio (58 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Reds.
