• Jhoan Duran (oblique) throws live bullpen session
Jhoan Duran (oblique) threw a successful live bullpen session on Friday in Minnesota.

Advice: Duran is close to being sent out on a minor league rehab assignment, and could go out before the weekend is through if he wakes up feeling good on Saturday. The 26-year-old stopper has a chance to make his triumphant return to the Twins bullpen before the month of April is through. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Throws BP session Friday
Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Friday that Duran (oblique) threw a 21-pitch bullpen session and felt no discomfort, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Duran was supposed to throw 20 pitches Friday, but Baldelli noted that the right-hander "wanted an extra one, so that tells you he's feeling good." It's another positive step for Duran, and he appears close to starting his rehab assignment. He started the season on the 15-day IL due to a right oblique strain he sustained in spring training. • Activated, optioned to Triple-A
The Twins reinstated Staumont (calf) from the 15-day injured list Friday and optioned him to Triple-A St. Paul, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Advice: A left calf strain has kept Staumont on the sideline since Opening Day. He made three rehab appearances at St. Paul and will remain with the Saints after allowing three runs across 3.2 innings, though he could return to the majors if the Twins find themselves in need of a fresh bullpen arm later in the season. • Twins activate and option Josh Staumont on Friday
Twins activated RHP Josh Staumont from the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: The 30-year-old hurler had been rehabbing his left calf strain at Triple-A St. Paul and he’ll stay there a bit longer as he continues to build back up. Expect him to return to the Twins’ bullpen at some point in May. Rotoworld Today, 2:41 pm
  • Another rough outing
Puk (0-4) took the loss Friday against the Cubs, allowing seven runs on seven hits and three walks over three innings. He struck out four.

Advice: It was another short outing for Puk on Friday as Chicago scored three runs over the first two innings before putting up a four spot in the third. Puk's now dropped his first four starts of the year while failing to pitch more than 4.2 innings. The left-hander sports an ugly 9.22 ERA with a 2.63 WHIP while issuing a league-high 17 walks across 13.2 innings. With Braxton Garrett (shoulder) inching closer to a return, the Marlins could elect to move Puk back to the bullpen, where he had considerably more success last season. Rotowire.com Today, 2:19 pm

  • Joining big club
White was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Advice: The 24-year-old will take the roster spot of Jack Leiter, who was sent down after making his MLB debut Thursday. White hasn't pitched well in three starts for Round Rock this season with a 7.30 ERA across 12.1 innings, but he should fill a bullpen while up with the Rangers. Rotowire.com Today, 2:06 pm
  • Mariners and Rockies postponed by rain on Friday

  • Could be in line to start Sunday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora implied Friday that Winckowski is a likely candidate to start Sunday in Pittsburgh, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Cora held off officially naming Winckowski his starter for that day, perhaps in case he is needed in relief before then. He would be filling in for Garrett Whitlock (oblique) and could be asked to make an additional start after Sunday while Whitlock recovers. Winckowski was stretched out as a starter in spring training, but all seven of his appearances since the regular season began have come in relief, with his longest outing being 2.2 innings. His start Sunday would be an abbreviated one. Rotowire.com Today, 1:55 pm
