    • Pete Fairbanks ready to start rehab on Tuesday
Pete Fairbanks (nerve issue) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Advice: The 30-year-old hurler has been out since April 22 due to a nerve-related condition that caused him difficulty in gripping the baseball. He should only need an outing or two there before he’s ready to rejoin the Rays’ bullpen. Rotoworld Today, 2:27 pm

    • Limited session coming Saturday
Snell (thigh) will throw around 50 pitches Saturday during a bullpen session, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Manager Bob Melvin said if all goes well, the team will make a decision on whether Snell will have a rehab assignment or face hitters in live batting practice next. It was already anticipated that Snell would need more than the minimum 15 days on the injured list with his Grade 2 adductor strain, so a mid-May return is still the best-case scenario. • Adbert Alzolay gives up three runs to take loss
After coming in with a 1-0 lead in the eighth, Adbert Alzolay gave up three runs on four hits to take a loss to the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: All four hits were singles, and three of them were soft, coming in at 80 mph or less. Two were grounders perfectly placed in between Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner up the middle. To be fair, Alzolay was missing his spots, and he hurt his cause by paying no attention to the baserunners and giving up three steals. Obviously, this won’t help his chances of seeing saves again anytime soon. Still, this isn’t how he usually struggles when he’s ineffective; he hadn’t allowed more than two hits in an appearance since last Sept. 1. Rotoworld Today, 2:02 pm
    • Activated, batting seventh in debut
Grissom (hamstring/illness) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and is starting at second base Friday against the Twins.

Advice: The 23-year-old is recovered from a bout with the flu and has joined the Red Sox a few days later than initially expected. Grissom has a career .287/.339/.407 slash line in 64 big-league games and should see plenty of playing time at the keystone for the Red Sox. Rotowire.com Today, 1:35 pm

    • Red Sox activate Vaughn Grissom for 2024 debut
Red Sox activated INF Vaughn Grissom from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: As expected, the Red Sox will have their dynamic 23-year-old infielder on the field for the first time of the season on Friday night against the Twins. He’ll be starting at second base and batting seventh against Twins’ right-hander Chris Paddack. Grissom hit .333/.444/.400 with a pair of RBI and two stolen bases in 36 plate appearances during his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester. Rotoworld Today, 1:22 pm

    • Rehab assignment starting soon
Fairbanks (arm) is set to begin a rehab stint at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported Friday.

Advice: Fairbanks has been dealing with a nerve issue in his throwing arm and after receiving positive results on testing done in late April, he's set to begin throwing in-game. It's unclear how long his stint in Durham will be, but once Fairbanks is back with the Rays, expect him to reclaim closing duties from Jason Adam and Garrett Cleavinger. • Back in action Friday
Encarnacion-Strand (hand) will start at first base and bat fifth in Friday's game versus the Orioles.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand missed four starts due to lingering left hand soreness following a hit-by-pitch over the weekend, but he's ready to go now. The 24-year-old has slashed a disappointing .196/.222/.314 with a 28.7 percent strikeout rate in 25 contests with the Reds this season. Rotowire.com Today, 11:08 am
    • Out of lineup again Friday
Chourio is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: It's the first time this season that he's been held out of the lineup in consecutive games. Since April 16, Chourio is slashing just .140/.196/.233 while striking out at a 38.3 percent rate. Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick are in the corner outfield spots for Milwaukee on Friday. • Double, RBI in loss
O'Neill went 1-for-2 with two walks, a double and an RBI in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Giants.

Advice: O'Neill had a terrific first month in a Boston uniform and continues to outperform his career standards. The outfielder has a 1.096 OPS, second in MLB behind only Mookie Betts. Rotowire.com Today, 4:16 am
